CNN will trust Jake Tapper and Dana Bash with moderating the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the presumptive nominees for each of their respective parties, both agreed to two debates — one hosted by CNN on June 27 and another hosted by ABC News in September — earlier on Wednesday.
“CNN Anchors @JakeTapper and @DanaBashCNN will moderate CNN’s Presidential Debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27 from Atlanta, Georgia. The debate will air live at 9pET on @CNN channels, CNN.com and on CNN Max,” read a statement posted online by CNN.
ABC News has not yet said who it will task with moderating the second scheduled debate on September 10.
Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to a third debate in October that he said would be hosted by Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, but Biden’s team has already indicated that he will not agree to such a forum.

Well, after months of refusing to debate GOP primary candidates despite their incessant pleas to stand like a man and easily defend his record, he would say many times (”I don’t need to debate these people. I want to debate Sleepy Joe Biden. Any place. Any time. Any format”.)
He ramped it up over the last few months, further baiting Biden.
And Sleepy Biden just called him on it. He has agreed now and cannot easily back out without looking cowardly, including throwing in the kitchen sink with last-minute stuff like, “I want Fox debates, too, and if we cannot have them, I won’t debate.” That was not the agreement.
I for one though think the debates will NOT go forward, just as I don’t expect President Trump to go under oath in NYC and on the stand and clear his name (as he has said he would and which he clearly should do to get this behind the nation).

Biden will do 1 debate. The first one. He will get all questions and then back out of all subsequent debates
Lots is speculation as to why Biden scheduled this early debate. Are his handlers resisting the pressure from the Dem Establishment to ditch him by having him debate making him the de facto candidate? Or is this just an audition?
He will need the latter in spades to go through with these farces.
Foolish thing to do. CNN has an open forum to embarrass and cover for Biden.
They may have the sales “rules” but watch how they will be enforced or not enforced.

Trump should insist:
First debate in June via ABC.
Second debate at end of July via Fox.
Otherwise, no debates.
First of all, if Trump is not prepared then he will lose. What I mean by that is not a grasp of the issues and facts, this debate is going to be ALL ABOUT TECHNIQUE. If Trump prepares as if this will be an actual normal debate of the issues he's gonna lose. Biden's strategy will not employ a strong defense of his policies and outcomes, it will be filled with attacks on Trump and "MAGA" to scare voters. Issues will be touched upon but Biden will easily defend positions and move on and if Trump responds incredulously like the rest of us watching he will lose, he needs to expect this. Go back and watch the Paul Ryan debate against Biden and you'll see a bit of what I am saying.
