Donald Trump 'broke gag order by passing notes to supporters'
Irish Star ^ | May 16, 2024 | Lucy Sarret & John O'sullivan

Legal experts believe Donald Trump could have flouted his court-imposed gag order by apparently manufacturing a scenario where his supporters communicated on his behalf. According to Newsweek, Trump has been penning notes for his political sympathizers to read outside the courthouse during his New York criminal trial, a move which could contravene the gag order.

The purpose of the order is to prevent Trump from talking about the jury or any witnesses in the hush money case. "Those notes are not privileged documents, and if their contents mirrored some of what Trump's GOP cronies said to the press, the notes could evidence violations of the Court's order," wrote New York lawyer David R. Lurie on X. Trump, eyeing up another run for the White House in 2024, is the first ex-US president to be the center of a criminal trial, reports the Express US. Trump is accused of 34 counts of falsifying business records with the prosecution claiming he paid Stormy Daniels, an ex-adult movie star, $130,000 to keep silent about a supposed affair before the 2016 election......

Ron Filipkowski, the chief at MeidasTouch.com, has claimed that Trump is blatantly flouting a gag order by using "surrogates" to communicate his stance. "We have been reporting for days now that Trump is providing daily talking points to surrogates who show up at the trial to violate the gag order for him. The order specifically prohibits him from doing this," he said.

Eric Lisann, an ex-federal prosecutor, also weighed in, stating, "Trump is not denying that he is directing others to speak in ways that are violations of the gag order - which is a violation of the gag order. The judge, Justice Merchan, can order Trump to show cause why he should not be held in contempt. "

Trump and all supporters are supposed to humbly vow total silence while listening to Jake Tapper, Whoopi Goldberg and the rest freely blab on the hours of Trump trashing quotes from the trial and the people in the courtroom and outside.

Meher Baba said not a word after starting total silence.
On July 10, 1925, Meher Baba began his silence that lasted for 44 years until died on January 31, 1969.

Funny point someone made: The silent Baba died on the same day as the Western star “Gabby” Hayes.

Pete Townshend and Melanie were stars who followed him in the 1960s. His phrase “Don’t Worry. Be happy.” is the only a capella top ten hit song as performed by Bobby McFerrin.

If the judge was worried about Trump somehow influencing the jury, he could have had them sequestered. Since they weren’t, they are exposed every day to the anti-Trump media (newspapers, TV, social media) but that’s OK because they are unlikely to encounter any pro-Trump sentiments there.

...is the first ex-US president to be the center of a criminal trial

To call this farce a criminal trial is nonsensical.

I suppose the next thing that POS judge will do is claim people on Freerepublic.com are subconsciously communicating with President Trump and we need to be gagged too.

No resigned shruggings, no drumming fingers on the table, no facial expressions. He must remain catatonic until after the trial.

Agree... they know there is a line and they aren’t sure where it is exactly. Exceedingly dangerous. Also they know it would only boost his popularity.

And at some point, the Supreme Court needs to stop this defacto Bill of Attainder crap lest they lose what little legitimacy they seem to have left.

Which isn’t surprising from Judas Romney.

He’s a POS and I’m glad I voted for a 3rd party candidate in 2012.

Many will disagree with my choice, but Romney was never going to be a good President.

If this nonsense isn’t stopped the law system needs huge budget cuts.

Democrats like Turley and Dershowitz know this, but your average Trump hater only knows hate & “the ends justify the means.”

They’re pathetic.

When I was in school and we got caught passing notes, we’d have stand and read the note out loud. :)

Thought crimes - the judge didn’t break his fingers. In fact, as long as Trump doesn’t flip the Judge the Bird, writing notes could be about anything. The fact that they do not have the notes really means they have no case.

Trump doesn’t need to direct anyone, the talking points are obvious. Any politician would know exactly what to say without guidance, and they have.
