Benjamin Netanyahu's government is thrown into chaos after key member of his war cabinet threatens to quit - as pressure mounts over Israel's military bombardment of Gaza

The Israeli government has been thrown into chaos as politicians in Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet threaten to resign.

Pressure has continued to mount on the Israeli leader to find a postwar plan for Gaza even as the war shows no sign of ending.

In the months following the devastating October 7 terrorist attack, Israeli politics has remained remarkably unified but that united front looks as though it is about to be shattered.

On Saturday evening Benny Gantz, a centrist member of Netanyahu's war cabinet and his main rival for the top job, threatened to leave the government on June 8 if it did not formulate a new war plan.

This includes an international, Arab and Palestinian administration to govern Gaza.

The leader of the National Unity party said: 'If you choose the path of fanatics and lead the entire nation to the abyss, we will be forced to quit the government.'

Gantz has been joined by Defence Minister Yoav Gallant who has also called for a plan for Palestinian administration, and said in a speech this week that he wouldn't agree to Israel governing Gaza itself.

Netanyahu has ruled out any role for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, instead he claims he wants to hand power to local Palestinian.

The PM has also ruled out any such plans until Hamas is defeated because it has threatened anyone who cooperates with Israel. He also remains deeply opposed to Palestinian statehood.

In a statement issued after the ultimatum, Netanyahu said Gantz' conditions would amount to 'defeat for Israel, abandoning most of the hostages, leaving Hamas intact and establishing a Palestinian state.'

Netanyahu added, however, that he still thought the emergency government was important for prosecuting the war, and that he 'expects Gantz to clarify his positions to the public.'

>> a hostage release rally in Israel Saturday night with a Hillary Clinton video message

Oh yeah, that’ll do it, all right. That’ll set those hostages free!

Fans is a self-serving traitor. The goals of the Leftist U.S. administration happen to match those of Hamas, and any Israeli concerned about the viability of their country must work to destroy Hamas and resist the pressure of those who have knifed them in the back.

Sadly, some of those secular leftist vermin in Israel WOULD be okay with Israel losing to Hamas.

Netanyahu has ruled out any role for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, saying he plans to hand civil responsibilities over to local Palestinians unaffiliated with it or Hamas. But he has also said that it’s impossible to make any such plans until Hamas is defeated because it has threatened anyone who cooperates with Israel.

Netanyahu’s government is also deeply opposed to Palestinian statehood.

In a statement issued after the ultimatum, Netanyahu said Gantz’ conditions would amount to “defeat for Israel, abandoning most of the hostages, leaving Hamas intact and establishing a Palestinian state.”

True, secular and practicing are two very different things. With that said the secular Jews in Israel remind me of the person after being beat up while walking down the street saying “i deserved that”

It’s one thing for “Jews “ of NYC to hate Israel and vote dim, takes another special person to have 1000s of rockets actually launched at them, bombs blowing up shops, people killed, kidnapped and raped to say “I guess we had that a coming”

Phrase keeps popping into my head “ be careful what you wish for”

Just as the IDF has the Hamas cornered in their last major stronghold in Rafah, the forces wanting their failure have risen to white hot fervor. Israel can’t succumb to this political game that has all the earmarks of bribery.

If only The Big Guy’s puppet master weren’t so determined to have a two state solution (Michigan and Minnesota) this matter would have been solved in mid to late October.

"The Israeli government has been thrown into chaos as politicians in Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet threaten to resign."

Maybe the problem is having politicians in a war cabinet(?)

The IDF will have to be in all the schools and the mosques.

It’s unlikely that the Israelis will be up for that.

So Hamas will rebuild and attack Israel again.
*********
There’s middle ground where Israel would not try to micro-control the people but would require enough monitoring to limit any rebuild.

The October 7 civilian hostage and fatality numbers have been updated.

About 1,200 Israelis were killed during the October 7 incursion.

About 300 of the dead were soldiers.

The music festival 2.9 miles from the Gaza border was the victim of the worst carnage.

About 40% of the 900 civilian deaths took place at the music festival.

About 50% of the 225 civilian hostages were abducted from the music festival.

The music festival had private security. By law, they can only have certain types of weapons and restricted amounts of ammunition. They ran out of ammunition within 20 minutes.
