I'm sorry, but President Bush should return to D.C. and address the world from the Oval Office.
"We shall not be chased from our homes."

GO TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND LEAD PRESIDENT BUSH!!!

Playing it smart. The situation is still unsettled. He's most likely at Offut AFB. The safest place for him is in the air under escort until they can figure out who did it and if they plan on more attacks.

Please, God, protect our President Bush and while you are at it please consider giving Peter Jennings and Katie Couric rectal cancer.

Omaha is where SAC is-the Strategic Air Command- which I believe is the control headquarters for all air force movement in the country. (at least that's what they told us when I toured it as a kid.) I would like to see President Bush go back to Washington, but I am most worried for his safety.

I'm sorry, but President Bush should return to D.C. and address the world from the Oval Office. Nope, He's doing exactly what he should be doing. And quite frankly, I don't need to know WHERE he is, but just that he's okay and in charge. It would make no sense for him to return to D.C. until we know for sure that D.C. and the White House are secure.

Fox News is reporting that there is arguing going on between the Secret Service - which wants the President to go to some safe place (NORAD?) - and the President's political advisors, who want him to go back to the White House.
I am a strong supporter of President Bush. If he doesn't go back to the White House immediately he will lose my respect. Leadership demands that he be at the center of government, not hiding in some remote hideyhole.

Sorry, I disagree. Clinton was all symbolism, no substance. Bush is all substance, no symbolism. The substance of today's events means the safety of the President matters more than the symbolism of him addressing the nation from the White House.

"My fellow Americans. I'm hiding out this evening, but rest assured, everything's under control, no need to panic...."

Perhaps he is at Offut to personally turn a launch key to lob the first nuke at the sponsors of this heinous act!
Now THAT would be leadership!

The President does not lead from a particular place. He leads from where ever his is at the moment. It's best to keep him mobile so that no one place is made a target. Until we fully understand the nature of the threat, symbolism is for fools.

He's most certainly getting a briefing from some or all of the Joint Chiefs at the Offutt Underground Command post where I served in the 70's

Are you serious?! This is NOT the time to nitpick on President Bush. The Secret Service is charged with his protection and in an emergency situation like this,I'm sure they know what they are doing.I'm so sick and tired of Jennings and Praeger nitpicking on GWB this morning and now you!

The cops in DC have enough problems right now. Adding the President will put him and the residents of DC in danger.

Omaha is where SAC is-the Strategic Air CommandYup. And we don't have the info that the NSA and other agencies have (despite some posters claims to the contrary). They may be aware of threats to the White House which are credible. Let's jes chill a bit.

Local news confirms AF1 has landed at Offutt-AFB, in Omaha.
Offutt-AFB is home of the Strategic Command (STRATCOM), formerly Strategic Air Command. Interesting choice of destinations. Hopefully he is not just there to get the current world nuclear weapons status update.
Pray for the victims and their families as well as for all of those who won't be able to get home tonight.

No one said his job was easy. With what has happened today, they Secret Service can't ever guarantee his safety. He needs to be front and center AND LEAD!!!
