The vast majority of Russia is non-muslim...can they not see that they also are "infidels"?
This may be one scenario where we and the Russians have a common enemy. As much as it may not be politically correct to say so, we are both majority "white" and non-muslim (so far...)
UNITED NATIONS, June 25 -- Russia has threatened to veto a U.S.-backed resolution in the Security Council that would revamp the embargo on Iraq and tighten United Nations controls over Baghdad's imports of military-related items, officials said.
Russian Foreign Minister Ivan Ivanov warned U.S. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell in a letter over the weekend that Moscow would block the resolution because it would damage commercial relations with Iraq.
"We see in the new scheme a major threat to Russian trade and economic interests in Iraq," Ivanov wrote. "We cannot allow it to pass."
Powell told reporters today that Washington may not meet its July 3 target for passage of the resolution. If so, it would be the second postponement because of strong opposition from Moscow and Beijing.
Powell said the Russians and others had rejected a U.S. list of "dual use" items -- goods with both a civilian and military application -- that Iraq could not import. "We have been unable to resolve the various technical issues with the list," he said.
The Russia-China Friendship and Cooperation Treaty: A Strategic Shift in Eurasia?
by Ariel Cohen, Ph.D.
On July 16, the presidents of Russia and China signed a Treaty for Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation in Moscow. 1 This treaty is the first such agreement between these two Eurasian powers since Mao Tse-tung signed a treaty with Joseph Stalin of the U.S.S.R. in 1950, four months before the outbreak of the Korean War. That treaty had been driven by anti-Western sentiments.
The motivations behind this new treaty are much more complex and involve serious geopolitical, military, and economic considerations. In a sense, this treaty is a logical product of the improvement in Sino-Russian relations that began under the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, and continued under Boris Yeltsin. The treaty should signal to the Western world that a major geopolitical shift may be taking place in the Eurasian balance of power, with serious implications for the United States and its alliances. The 2001 Russia-China treaty covers five important areas of cooperation:
* Joint actions to offset a perceived U.S. hegemonism; 2
* Demarcation of the two countries' long-disputed 4,300 km border;
* Arms sales and technology transfers;
* Energy and raw materials supply; and
* The rise of militant Islam in Central Asia.
The treaty comes on the heels of another recent security arrangement involving these two countries: On June 14, Russia, China, and four Central Asian states announced the creation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), an arrangement ostensibly aimed at confronting Islamic radical fundamentalism and promoting economic development. 3 Together, the agreements portend an important evolving geopolitical transformation for Russia and China, two regional giants who are positioning themselves to define the rules under which the United States, the European Union, Iran, and Turkey will be allowed to participate in the strategically important Central Asian region.
Many analysts point out that while the United States should monitor these developments, there is still no cause for panic. Contradictions in political objectives continue to exist between China and Russia, including Russia's "primordial distrust" of the Chinese, according to Professor James Sherr of Great Britain's Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. 4 Nonetheless, there is growing concern that the new treaty between Moscow and Beijing may increase coordination between the two countries against the United States.
The Bush Administration should take steps to protect U.S. interests, increase regional security, and counter the threat of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). It should, for example, expand intelligence monitoring of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership, including assessing possible secret codicils in the treaty. It should boost military and security cooperation with India and Japan while developing joint efforts with Russia and China to counter radical Islamic threats in Central Asia. And it should offer Moscow incentives to scale down its military cooperation with China, especially with regard to weapons of mass destruction and advanced military technology.
I think that Russia's support of removing sanctions on Iraq is paper-thin...don't you think the WTC disater/atrocity (I will not call it a tragedy) caught the Russian's attention? Plus, the Russians are supporting the Afghan rebels...
I'm not sure the Russians still want Afghanistan (they did in the past) but I say we collaborate with the Russians, take out the Taliban and BinLaden and let the Russians have Afghanistan if they want it. While were at it, we should do away with Iraq and Saddam (preferably BEFORE dealing with Afghanistan) and set up some international coalition government...let Russia be involved there too...
The bottome line is, in dealing with the islamic jihad, our caucasian brethren in Russia have more in common with us than the Muslims...
Top defected Russian spy Col. Stanislav Lunev, investigative journalist Bill Gertz, and other experts on national security and foreign policy have released alarming research on the Russia and China threat to the U.S.A.
This research along with news reports about international defiance (e.g. communist and rogue or terrorist states) to U.S. hegemonism and U.N. sanctions
America is viewed by the Islamic and culturally/religiously orthodox world as a major source of worldwide moral contamination and destructive materialism.
As Israel's only unconditional ally, hatred towards America is also growing in direct proportion to hatred towards Israel. And Russia and China are the only military superpowers with the technology to empower Israel's enemies and unite with them in removing the U.S. roadblock to the obliteration of Israel.
We are, all of us, useful idiots.
In these times, realism is mistaken for cynicism, and even a lack of partiotism, by those who feel rather than think.
Was the destruction of the WTC an act of reasoned thought or demented imagination?
The guy who wrote this article is an idiot.... If you read any of hes other articles, you'll realise that he blames Russia for all of America's problems... What the F--K is this crap about the so-called "nuclear conspiracy" leading to World War III? If that happened it would be World War III and it would be over in a matter of minutes..... Also, IF Russia wanted to destroy the US with a nuclear strike, it would have to be sectretive, so the US does not suspect they will attack, and it will have to be very quick to minimise the amount of time the US has to react......... Does putting them on a war footing do that?
Why should Turabi and bin Laden do Russia this favor? Why should they deliver crushing blows against the U.S. and not to Russia? I suppose the hundreds of Russians killed in the apartment blocks were dolls hey? I suppose the thousands of Russian soldiers killed in Chechnya fighting bin Laden's boys were fake? I suppose the fact that Russia has lost nearly all of its influence in the Balkans and around the world was planned? I suppose Russia's f--cked economy was planned? I suppose the sorry state of the Russian defence force was planned? Maybe they killed the sailors on the Kursk too? Instead of avenging a million Islamic dead at the hands of Moscow, the Taliban looks to the other side of the globe, to Russia's "main enemy
They are avenging these "deaths"... Who is fighting against Russia in Chechnya? Who is fighting the Serbs (Russia's ally) and Macedonians (not really an ally, yet, but same culture, religion etc...) in the Balkans?....... Point 2: Who does Iraq, and all arabs really blame for the deaths of millions (note that!!!! MILLIONS - more than a million) of Iraqi's in Iraq, Palestinians in Israel, Arabs throught the MidEast... throughout history? Who has troops stationed in nations that house the most holy sites in Islam? Who is supporting Israel, in their attempt to keep a united Jerusalem, which coincidently, is home to the third most holy site in Islam (regardless of whether they are justified or not)?
But the real dirt on Turabi has to do with drug trafficking. Both Turabi and bin Laden became involved with a double-dealing Afghan commander, Gulbaddin Hekmatiyar.......will realize the significance of drug trafficking and organized crime as a conduit of corruption and control for KGB-sponsored gangsters Wow.... now its getting interesting..... Who is the US supporting in the Balkans? You guessed it, the Albanian Terrorists, who coincidently have major links to the Albanian mafia, while many claim they are the one and the same..... And what do these nice terrorists do? Export humans, drugs, arms and everything else imaginable to Europe.... The Albanian mafia has been said to control 70% of the drug trade in Europe.... Kosovo is the worlds biggest drug centre and brothel, courtesy of NATO (US led) "intervention" (bombing the crap out of Serbia).... And this wanker (J.R. Nyquist), has the tenacity to say that Russia supports terrorism.... Heres some food for thought......
SKOPJE - An islamic terrorist, who had once lived in Macedonia, took part in last Tuesday's terrorist attacks in the United States, the Skopje daily Dnevnik said on Monday. Osama Bin Laden's terrorists are operating in Macedonia together with the ethnic Albanian paramilitary organisation, the NLA, the newspaper said quoting intelligence sources and thus confirming information received by some foreign media. Who has come to the aid of the Albanian terrorists? NATO (US led)? Who provided an ARMED escort to the Albanian terrorists (in air-conditioned buses, with ALL of their weapons)out of Aracinovo when they were surrounded by the Macedonian security forces, and where on the verge of being wiped out, and dumped them 5 miles away so they could fight another day? What did these terrorists say to reportes who went to interview them after the Macedonian government was forced to sign the b--lsh-t aggreement? "Thanks to Uncle Sam, Macedonians are no match for us!" Here is a link to that too
America the great supporter of freedom and liberty hey? Maybe you are, but not your imperialistic government......
