California Young Americans for Freedom has been leading the charge in telling advertisers what they are supporting when they advertise on the Tom Leykis program. Tom Leykis is a nationally syndicated talk host who is on in Los Angeles on 97.1 KLSX.
Some of the topics discussed on the program include:
- Prayer is useless. What good did it do the victims in the WTC who prayed just before they died?
- President Bush is a wimp (another word was used but was canceld by FR censor) for weeping for the victims of the attack.
- A show on how men can use the attack to get laid.
- How are we better than terrorists when we have bombed other countries.
Some advertisers that have pulled their ads over the past week include:
- The US Navy
- Nissan of Puente Hills
- Jaguar of Thousand Oaks
- Fairplex in Pomona
- Southern California Edison
- Promise Keepers
While we have achieved this success WE NEED ONE FINAL PUSH FOR THE ADVERTISERS THAT ARE SITTING ON THE FENCE. The ones that are sitting on the fence include:
Dr. Glen Kasech for Lasik Eye Surgery 310-575-0115
Knotts Berry Farm 714-220-5115
Leuxs of Beverly Hills 310-274-5200
United California Bank Madelyn Sell 213-896-7971
These comments are cruel and insensitive to those who have suffered as a result of the attack. The Leykis show and KLSX have been telling advertisers that he didn't say those things or that his comments were taken out of context. However, they won't release any tapes or transcripts of the program. We need to tell the advertisers to request a tape of the show so that they can hear for themselves what their sponsorships are supporting.

This is not breaking news, you are abusing the forum.

Best of luck in that deal. The last thing we need is for these kinds of dorky comments. Our nation is in a time of war and we need to stand behind President Bush. Tom Leykis is nothing but a first class bozo.

I think Lykis should be thrown in jail for being a blatant Mancow wanna-be.... Cruise by his site, then by mancow's... this guy used to sound somewhat normal, but it's now obvious who he is trying to look and sound like....
didn't he used to just wear plain glasses? add a goate and drop a few pounds, and boom..

When I am at work, and jump on in my break to see the breaking news, I would like to see breaking news. I don't put my posts in breaking news unless they are. The issue is not my seriousness, rather it is the selfishness of others.

Maybe his career is not toast after all: I hear that 'Politically Incorrect' is hiring ....

Have real mixed feelings about this. Hate Leykis, but don't like to use the tactics that were used against Dr. Laura. Besides, having liberals out there spouting their nonsense is the best way to let them discredit themselves.

Leykis was on Phoenix radio in the early 90's... we turned him off in droves. He has clearly since become even more cynical and shallow. If broadcasting a non-stop string of high volume obscenities would get him better ratings, he would scream himself hoarse every night. Treat him like we are treating Maher, and Jennings, and Rather, et al. TURN the IDIOT OFF! He simply doesn't deserve to monopolize your valuable time. If you listen to him just to get outraged... the go ahead and enjoy it, but realize that you are lining this idiot's pockets at the same time.

Prayer is useless? Well, that's what "LIE-k-ASS" is gonna be doing when stations start dropping his garbage show once advertisers start regarding him as the pariah he is.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I called and had nice polite conversations with the advertisers or their assistants. They seemed concerned and also without a cloue as to what the program was about. Dr. Kasech's office said they just pulled their ads and would not support the program. It would be nice to give them a call to say "thanks."
Keep on FReepin' on!

"Big deal. It's a free country. Let the leftist spout his stuff. Everybody knows how successful left-wing radio has been." Leykis isn't left wing, right wing, or chicken wing radio. He promotes topics which are intended to shock and invoke calls from people who are dumb enough to take what he says seriously. The only thing he has going for him is that he is adept at debating his "outraged" callers and showing them up for the fools they are to call his show in the first place. He thrives on the type of dissent this group is bringing about, and by promoting this agenda, they are only feeding Leykis' thirst for controversy, which drives up his ratings.

More B.S. for our consumption. Bush a wimp? Please.
Hey, I've got an idea... Let's whine, bitch, and moan all day about Bush's waffling and wimpiness! That way, no one will doubt our resolve and support for our leader. After all, we got him elected. We might as well continue to doubt him. That's what make conservatives great. We eat our own, and then we eat crow.

God (God of Abraham, ISAAC, and Jacob) always knows and hears the prayers of all,
BUT, God answers the prayers (in Jesus' Name) of 'born from above' Christians!
HOWEVER, God often says, NO.
Often, YES.
and most often, PATIENCE. (but keep in touch....keep on praying.)
(.......in Jesus' Name, Amen!)
God is NOT 'mocked' without incurring His "SURE/CERTAIN" Personal, Rightious Vengence/wrath/violence of 'just' punishment! (NOT rehabilitation)
God, in the END, ALWAYS......Gets the RESPECT HE DESERVES.
.........yet, His MERCY endureth forever!!
(1st John 4:9-11) (1st John 4:9-11) God is Very, Very, (Infinitely) Just and Good!!

I remember the Boston show. He used to pick on two Boston Herald gossip columnists and they ate him alive, particularly after the wife beating incident. He was never seen in Boston again! And this is Liberal Central!
To: Young Americans for Freedom
someone sent the following to me in email yesterday... I think it applies here:
"I had a very dear friend question my faith in God right after the terrorist attack on America. Her question was simply put, "Where is your God today?" She was very hurt, as all Americans were, so I tried not to react defensively. Since that moment I have prayed and grieved over the disastrous events. However, I believe I have the answer. I know where my God was the morning of September 11, 2001! He was very busy. First of all, he was trying to discourage anyone from taking these flights. Those four flights together held over 1000 passengers yet there were only 266 aboard.
He was on 4 commercial flights giving terrified passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the family members who was called by loved ones on one of the high-jacked planes said that passengers were screaming in the background. On one of the flights he was giving strength to passengers to try to overtake the high-jackers.
He was busy trying to create obstacles for employees at the World Trade Center. After all only around 20,000 were at the towers when the first jet hit. Since the buildings hold over 50,000 workers, this was a miracle in itself. How many of the people who were employed at the WTC told the media that they were late for work or they had traffic delays.
He was holding up 2-110 story buildings so that 2/3 of the workers could get out. I was so amazed that the top of the towers didn't topple when the jets impacted.
Although this is without a doubt the worst thing I have seen in my life, I can see God's miracles in every bit of it. I keep thinking about my friend and praying for her every chance I have. I can't imagine going through such a difficult time and not believing in God. Life would be hopeless. "

I remember that too. Those two gossip columnists pen the "Inside Track" and they showed Leykis no mercy. They were still digging up dirt on him months after he left town.
I think Leykis was the original replacement for Gene Burns. What a horrendous mistake that was on the part of WRKO. What were they thinking?
