There's a phrase we've heard quite a lot lately: "Everything has changed." For those who lived or worked in downtown New York or lost loved ones in the attacks, that's a truth that can't be escaped. The rest of America is only beginning to get a sense of how fundamentally our country has been altered.

To all the wackos out there: there has been a tectonic shift in America. We will not put up with this crap anymore. Your contributions will dry up and you will be treated the same as any other terrorist organization.

Bump for burning some PETA activists. (I'm just _joking_, okay?)

My suggestion is and will remain the same. When an activist is arrested for violent protest, sentence them to "community service" cleaning up the mess in NY.

In a wartime economy like we had in WWII, there was a great emphasis on conservation and recycling. Kids went around neighborhoods asking people for old pots, pans, and other scrap metal. Housewives were asked to have their bacon drippings.

It certainly would help our national security if we were less dependent upon Mid-east oil. These groups could prove themselves to be genuine, honorable patriots if they would focus themselves on promoting and facilitating sensible conservation efforts in this country -- not necessarilly by the heavy hand of government regulation, but by promoting voluntary efforts.

Good article.

Folks are still willing to give money for causes..........but you can be damned sure that they'll be evaluating those "causes" much, much more closely.

Not gonna happen, Stefan. The groups in question have no desire to improve America. If they did, they would work within the system, not attack it.

< adjusting tin-foil beanie > I've become convinced that PETA, the Sierra Club, NOW, Rainbow-PUSH, and all the other nationally known advocacy groups are fronts for the current crop of marxist-socialists. As David Horowitz said in Radical Son, socialists have plans to tear down a society and redistribute the wealth. They have no plans for the creation of wealth. They cannot build, they can only destroy. If you look at the record of the advocacy groups, their goal is to reclaim all private property (from "the rich") and redistribute it (to "the poor").

Real consevation efforts will be started by the Conservatives and will benefit society by finding alternative fuel sources. Conservation efforts by the advocacy groups will benefit the advocacy groups to the detriment of the country.

"...sentence them to "community service" cleaning up the mess in NY."

I wouldn't want them anywhere near the ground where so many good and heroic American died. It would be like making them cut the grass at Arlington or Gettysburg --- these self-absorbed little mini-terrorists wouldn't get it.

Bingo. The left never gave a damn about the environment until the early 70s when the draft was eliminated. They hijacked the legitimate conservation movements like the Sierra Club so that they could have a 'cause' with which to promote their brand of Marxism. Over the course of the years, these outfits have become very profitable enterprises and those profits are used to undermine freedom.

You are right, of course. The one constant, primary motivating principle for the leftists is sedition. All of their various "causes", no matter how mutually contradictory, support that primary purpose.

My point is that if that were NOT the case, one would indeed see something along the lines of what I describes emerging. The fact that it by-and-large is not only proves what these people really are.
