Lightining rods are fine, but the really important safety device for all tin foil hats is the grounding strap. There was an incident where this guy wore his hat without one. The hat worked fine intercepting all those mind controlling rays, but it built up a charge of static electricity of epic proportions. When he went to the bathroom, we'll this is a family forum, so let's just say that all the energy had to find a ground.... It wasn't pretty.
