Mideast Cadets

Thursday, 11/01/01

An Eyewitness News investigation has prompted the U.S. State Department to launch its own investigation. Reporter Jay Kolls discovered a foreign army training in our own backyard. Our own government did not know about the training, and the man who brought the United Arab Emirates air force cadets to the U.S. has now left the country.

Although there may be no connections to this training and the September 11 terrorist attacks, three of the hijackers had ties to the United Arab Emirates.

Eyewitness News found out about the training missions after one of the cadets had a skydiving accident.

But they weren't learning terrorist techniques. They were skydiving.

See #56.

Atta and company were "just" taking flying lessons.

Then pass a law that say that nobody can learn how to skydive in America unless they are citizens and have passed some background check.

For crying out loud, these were students at a college from a country that we consider relatively friendly.

This is the biggest overreaction I've seen. It's NOTHING.

Things changed after 9-11, in case you didn't notice.

Or perhaps we should just stay happy and stupid until a suicide parachute team lands on an LNG tanker coming into port, and steers it into downtown at 25 knots?

What Atta and Co. did was also "unimaginable", before 9-11.

What could possibly be the motive for an individual to pay for sky diving training for 100 people? Did these individuals just tell him they wanted a hobby and he coughed up the money? Get real, folks!

You pay for skydiving training for 100 "arab cadets" (?) because you are interested in finding the 20 with real potential. Those 20 can land on a supertanker, LNG tanker, ammunition ship at the dock with minimal crew on board, nuclear power plant etc.

They can land right inside the inner security perimeter. Since they are suicide commandos and don't care if they die, they will not mind taking 50% casualties in the firefight killing the armed security there.

The ten who survive rig the ammunition ship or LNG tanker or nuclear power plant to explode or self destruct.

Something we must realize is that arabic is spoken from Iraq to Morocco, so saying that the "cadets" are from the UAE is very dubious. It is the SOP of terrorists entering the USA to be "sheepdipped" through several arab nations to hide their true origins.

Good grief. There are a lot easier ways to hijack a ship than trying to parachute on it while it is moving. I don't know if the Navy Seals would even try that stunt.

This incident is being portrayed as if this was some specialized training that will be used against us. First of all, these guys weren't terrorists. They were students. We know who they are, and we know where they came from.

Secondly, learning to jump from a little airplane isn't something that can only be learned in the US. It's a low-tech skill that can be learned in any country with an airport. It obviously wasn't even learned very well in this case, as the photos of the guy dangling from the power lines prove.

20 experienced freefallers could train another 100 experienced freefall jumpers. The knowledge can not be kept in the USA and in the final analysis this is knowledge we are talking about. The only real response is an armed citizenry. Twenty jumpers can not take over an SSB(N) with a fully armed and trained crew aboard. Nor can five or six suicide commandoes take over a school full of children with a fully armed faculty and staff. If one does not trust teachers with firearms how can one entruct one's children to them?

In country one slept with a sidearm because of the possibility of sappers inside the wire. Unfortunately, we know we have the enemy inside the wire here in the USA so we as a nation had best start realizing it.

Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

But there is nothing here to indicate that anything threatening was happening.

Shhh, you'll awaken the conspiracy loons....

Ah, you are incorrect sir. I happen to attend the skydiving school where this happened. I personally KNOW the guy who runs it, and I can personally vouch for the original story. I don't know how or what you think is debunked, but there WERE UAE military cadets that attended class-1 free fall training in Minnesota, WITHOUT the knowledge of the US Govt. This has been in the print media and the radio here in Minnesota for a few days. General Androtti, the State AG is being called to explain how it could happen (even though he ostensibly had nothing to do with it). Sorry, you are flat wrong on this one.

Outlaw, I wasn't talking about the UAE report--I'm talking about the "half-dozen terrorists scoping nuke plants and let go by the INS" piece mentioned in Post #27.

The above shows what little you know. You could change a few words and it would be the "official" position on crashing jets into buildings (which HAD been discussed at top levels) prior to 9-11.

God protect us from leaders with tiny imaginations.

Judging from some of the tiny minds on this thread, we will have to lose a million Americans before everyone wakes up.

The more your Fed buddies allow the foriegn terrorists to roam free and commit terror, the more power the federal government can grab. We have some sickos in government.
