Well, body piercing come from the S&M crowd ; which used to be VERY " underground ". Even in the once banned " THE STORY OF O " , no one had their tonge pierced. That must have been SO on the fringe, and hidden, as to be beyond even that book. Maybe it came from the homosexual S&M group; whereas " THE STORY OF O " is a heterosexual S&M book. Frankly, I don't know ; this is just a wild guess on my part.
Why it became " cool " to body pierce , is quite beyond me,
I completely agree that it is beyond me. To me the whole thing is very sick, but the younger crowd seemed to think it was cool for a while. I sure hope that passes quickly because so much damage can be done via infection. I am particularly happy that none of my kids followed the fad! They would be sleeping outside!
