Shifting Gun-control arguments and facts... defining true Patriotism
my brain | 11/26/2001 | J

There have been many facinating posts in regards to preserving our God-given freedom to bear arms for lawful defense. The true facts are laid out, court cases have shown it, gun-preventing-crime stories have proved it, and most everyone knows this.
However, I see that one of the most important factors in our freedom to keep and bear arms is not given enough of the spotlight as it should get. That is the freedom to prevent a tyrranical government from being born and infecting our nation.
This worries me, because in light of recent terror attacks and new threats against our great nation, is that our elected trusted political officials have been taking more bold steps to infringe not only on our 2nd amendment freedoms, but on all civil freedoms at an increasing alarming rate.
It's starting to look like 1770's again, when England was terrorizing Americans with unjust taxes, landgrabs, gungrabs, etc... but you know the rest of that story. Now, back in 2001, the cycle begins again.
So the real question is: why do we, as lawful citizens, keep and bear arms? or are we just gonna fly a little flag on our car and call ourselves patriots?
God bless our armed forces overseas fighting to preserve our freedom, and those military and civil forces preserving our freedom at home.

I hope we don't lose face on what patriotism really means... this gun-control battle can't just be fought on "gun safety and gunlocks and semi-auto" fronts alone, but keeping those in power from commiting crimes against its citizens.

"GOD FORBID WE SHOULD EVER BE 20 YEARS without such a rebellion," wrote Thomas Jefferson, author of America?s Declaration of Independence, to a friend in 1787 regarding Shay?s Rebellion.
