HEADS-UP: Energy Bill (Incl Drilling in ANWR)To Senate Floor For Vote Monday
Senate Proceedings on C-Span(Senator Murkowski) | November 29, 2001 | me

Posted on 11/29/2001 3:23:02 PM PST by Lady In Blue

I just turned on C-Span late this afternoon in the middle of Senator Murkowski's(sp?)presentation and I think I heard him say the Energy Bill will be allowed to go to the Senate floor this coming Monday for a vote! Has anybody heard this? Need verification but I'm sure that I heard the senator say it.

Yes,Senator Smith, surprisingly is against drilling in ANWR.He's up for reelection next year.I guess he doesn't want to do anything that's going to make it harder for himself.I bet deep down,he's for it.

I am suspicious. Will be curious as to how this plays out. dasshole rules the roost with an iron fist. I am waiting for the first shoe to drop. And then I expect the GOP to say "Damn, that was good, let the other shoe drop!"

Daschle has said that other pressing matters such as economic recovery, national security in light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and remaining government spending bills, leave no time to deal with energy this year.

What a little twerp!  They don't have time to pass an ENERGY BULL, but they have time to pass CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM???

                By Thomas Ferraro

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader
Tom Daschle on Thursday voiced optimism that a bipartisan
bill to revamp the nation's election system could be brought
to the floor of his chamber for a vote before Congress
                adjourns.

``I'm very hopeful that we can still reach an agreement on
election reform before the end of this year,'' Daschle said.

If we reach an agreement, it would be my expectation, we'll bring
it up'' before Congress adjourns for the year, he told reporters.

Lott is playing a risky strategy. It will almost certainly take 60 Seante Ayes to get the ANWR provision through as an Amendment instead of a majority vote if it was its own bill.

Should the ANWR amendment fail, then some Dems will claim that ANWR had its chance and failed, for their attempt to block the real ANWR bill that will be coming up in the first half of January for a vote.

It might be noted that BP has applied today for permits for trench testing of the over-top to Canada route of the North Slope natural gas pipeline.
