I don't remember if he hosted SNL, although he was on at least a couple times, plus his involvement with the SNL associated TV Beatles parody movie "The Rutles".
He played a reporter in "The Rutles", where it basically showed the Rutles equivalent to Apple Corporation being ransacked by hippies. That segment also featured Michael Palin. ;)

I don't think the Beatles are all that.... I like ABBA better.
As the founder of the Abba Bring them to Brisbane Association, (*) I have to say you will never find a greater ABBA fan than me. But I am sorry, my friend, the superswedes only achieved greatness in the shadows of the Fab Four.
You know what they say abour reachig the heights by standing on the shoulders of giants? The Beatles were an example of such giants.

Sadim
(*) It didn't work. They didn't perform here, and I had to travel 1100km to Sydney to see them. It was worth every km!

WHEN I'M 64
As a teen in 1967, I had a series of Beatle photos....depicting them as 64 year old gentilemen..... Sadly, John and George never made it...

I think George was permanently weakened by this attack. It probably made him less able to fight off the cancer when it returned. His biographer told SKY tonight that the impact was more psychological than physical .. but it can't have helped.

Harrison's Last Concert is on right now on VH-1.

Although I was born in 1957, the music of the late 60's is the period that seems will never be surpassed. There was such variety and such depth. You could find anything from Sinatra to Acid selling well in stores. Of course, there was schlock and forgettable stuff, as is true in all periods, but the period from 1965-1969 truly exploded the music world in ways nobody would have considered.
Harrison and the Beatles, of course, ruled the music world at that time and they showed a great deal of depth and versatility of their own in the hands of just these four. Their place in music history is secure as long as we have ears to listen.
George is with the ages.

Both of you are too young to know first-hand the impact of The Beatles, and especially in the US, MadIvan.
Here in Indiana, music was pretty much Elvis and The Beach Boys. The Beatles transformed teen-age culture in 6 months. I had friends who grew their hair long (at this time in the Midwest everyone had crew-cuts), people memorized their songs, clothing styles changed, everyone wanted to be British. By the time they toured the US (appearing here at the State Fair) they dominated popular music and culture like no group has since.
Harrison was always my personal favorite, perhaps because he was modest and quiet. I am not a musician, but friends who are have told me that he was far and away the best musician of the four. How very sad to see him leave us, and how blessed the world was that he gave us so much happiness. A life well-lived has ended. Rest in peace, Mr. Harrison.

The thought that comes to mind is a quote from my favorite Samba which I think is particularly appropriate now:
"...and He, who was a poem of tendernous and peace, has left us a boquette of musical roses that we shall never forget".
The original Portuguese:
"E elle, quem era um poema de tenura e pais, fez um boque que nos nao esqueces mais, de rosas musicais"
May his soul find peace.

Imagine there's a heaven,
You find out when you die.
A hell below us,
Guess you know now, huh, old guy?
"My Sweet Lord," indeed! Are you "bigger than God" now?

He was always my favorite. Mine, too. My earliest memory is walking down a cul-de-sac next to my home singing "She loves you ya ya ya..." I guess I was 4 (1964). Been a huge fan all my life. I'm pretty well stunned by his passing. God bless you, George.

Wow, I can't believe you posted "Something" as a favorite of yours. It was the song my former husband and I loved the most, and the power of music is such that despite his absence, I still love that song. Can't explain it.

Try to realise it's all within yourself no-one else
can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
and life flows on within you and without you.
We were talking - about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul -
they don't know - they can't see - are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself - then you
may find, peace of mind is waiting there -
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.
