There is no evidence? Pick up an apple seed and look at it carefully. It's a tiny little microchip. Inside it is a program that when activated will grow into a huge tree, millions of times bigger than the seed itself with it's roots possibly breaking the foundation of your house. Then that tree will produce apples, delicious miracles unto themselves, and inside that apple is more of these amazing little microchips which will wait quietly and patiently to start the process again. All of this information is encoded in this tiny , seemingly insignificant piece of compressed wood and dirt. Can man make one of these? Is it the result of an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters? If it is, where are all the failed attempts?

Does the Bible strike you as a book of fairy tales and simple minded explanations? What the creator knows is beyond human comprehension. Imagine trying to explain complex physics theories to a six year old. You'd have to dumb it down to the point that it would be at best a vague and confusing concept and the child would see no relevance or purpose of it, to his own existence.

As for faith, you exercise faith everyday. You have faith that the food you eat hasn't been poisoned. You have faith that the floor your sitting on isn't going to cave in. You have faith that your car brakes are going to work, etc. If you didn't have faith in these things you'd be a nervous wreck.

I put faith in God and that he will take proper care of everything. Until I did I was an angry, anxious person who thought I had to know everything in order to control it all myself. Shalom is what the Lord gives those that believe. Look at all of these miserable hollywood people, in and out of marriages, drugs and depression. They have money, fame, worshipers. success and yet they have no shalom. Shalom is more precious than gold or anything and the best part is, is that it is free. You must seek the Lord and ask. See if he doesn't. And you will be a rich man my friend.

Hey, what's the big deal with you? Are you so incensed that people have a belief that you have to spend so much time and energy denigrating them and/or their belief? You seem almost as if you are wanting to be converted the way you bait arguments on these threads. If that's not the case; why not allow people the right to be wrong about having a belief in God and saving yourself the trouble? I ask all this in the most respectful terms I can type right now.

I realize that there are many names and manifestations for God. And yes, if I were born in another land I might well be on another path. But all this is irrelevant. Let's say I worship Bob the Omnipotent. If you don't believe there is a Bob, then do you have an alternate theory of how all this world came about? I have thought a lot about it, and I don't believe that evolution/coincidence can explain it. There must be a Bob.

This is a discussion forum. People come here to discuss things. One of the ideas of discussion, is to challenge each other's ideas, and to learn and grow from each other. Surely you are comfortable enough in your faith, to withstand a simple discussion of it's fundamentals. And just as surely, you recognize that inasmuch as you might believe, I might disbelieve.

Actually, prophecy is easily verified. It is either written in the Bible... or it is not. As to your two above scenarios, neither of them appear anywhere in Scripture. And thus, they will not happen.

None that satisfy my generally inquisitive nature.

I have the same basic problems with the currently advanced scientific theories, as I have with those which are based on the existence of God.

If the big bang was the instantaneous beginning, from whence did it come?

If God was the creator of all things, where the heck did he come from?

The best I can come up with for either question, is a big shrug of the shoulders.
