S.C. Flag Protest Headed for Highway Stops

THe Southern States were excercising their constitutional rights to cede from the Union-they were only Rebels in the eyes and the illiterate minds of those who would hold them in involuntary servitude to the country that chose to treat them as step children. The first salvo of the war was not fired at southerners invading the north, but against northern ships already occupying the harbor at Charleston South Carolina.

It was obviously a liberal north, because the trouble started when they chose to cram their liberalism down the throats of the south. Then as now, Liberals claimed the high ground, by standing on the bodies of the sacrifical lambs (aka useful idiots) they had relegated to the sewer, beneath their hob nailed boots. Is the world better for it, or anyone of any race living better because Lee surrendered his Saber to Grant at Appomadox Court House, Virginia? I do not believe so.

The South was never more evil than the North, then as now though, they owned the liberal media of the day, and demonized everyone south of the Mason-Dixon line. My ancestors were not perfect human beings, but neither were those folks who lived in the frigid north-most were just normal human beings, not abusive monsters of all who labored under their supervision.

History records that the North won the war, but reality reveals that it was not the "just" war that the reality twisters would have us believe. And it will take a lot more time than most of us have left, before it is proven conclusively whether any lasting good or evil came from all that pain, that continues to this day.

That is my two cents worth, for what it's worth.

If some SC FReepers were to organize a counter-protest to these boneheads at a rest stop on some weekend, I would make a trip down from Virgina to support it. I want to come down and spend some money in the great state anyway.

Apparently, you don't believe that people should remember their heritage. No, they just want us to remember it their way. The yanks should feel guilty, look what their win has done for us all. Rampant destruction of the very Constitution they blame us for violating by secession. I would have to believe if the South had won, our honor system would never have taken us where we are today. That very sense of honor, something most here know nothing of based on the constant personal attacks disguised as debate, would have us following the confines of the Constitution to the letter. No one is defending slavery. They're defending the right to have a memorial to soldiers who lost their lives in a war.

And, as I said previously, with all the problems this nation has, don't you think conservatives could find something better to defend than the Confederate flag?

If people don't defend their right to know & honor their heritage when Orwellian PC hate groups come along and dedicate themselves to systematically errasing history, then there soon won't be anything left for conservatives to defend.

South Carolina has 29.8 percent of its population listed as African-American. Any NAACP boycott of SC will hurt them as much as any white person.

The NAACP could care less.

But the point remains: With all the important issues to fight for in our nation, in our culture, I can't see spending an inordinate amount of energy defending the Confederate flag. That flag is not the flag of my nation.

We can of course always back down to racist groups like the NAACP, and say that's not an important issue. I refuse to back down. I will fly that flag till I die. I will wear my Confederate Flag shirt, and keep my Confederate bumper stickers despite the dirty looks I get from the locals when I go North.
