Interesting- someone posted a link to another article discussing PKs writings- mentioned on article in which he described the US as a well meaning 500 lb gorilla, and the Euros as military midgets.

What was interesting was that he didn't seem to feel this was a bad thing, whereas his book "Rise and Fall of Great Powers" took the US to task for trying to maintain a preponderance of military force in the world, and suggested it would lead to our downfall.

Unfortunately the dictionary definition of freethinking is atheist. For use for a pretty good sounding compound word if you ask me.
