RICK ROBERTS SOURCE, HIGH-PLACED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL TOLD RICK
The comments of Rick Roberts source (a high placed law enforcement official) are in bold type. Additional information from other sources (press, etc.) are in italics.
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said that the van Dams were involved in "swinging, lots of wife swapping."
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said that before Danielles disappearance, the van Dams neighbor, David Westerfield "found out about the familys (van Dams) swinging lifestyle and approached them to host an adult party at his house."
David Westerfield has been quoted in the press as saying that he was a friend of the van Dams.
The van Dams have denied this, stating that their only contact with him was when Brenda and Danielle came to his home to sell girl scout cookies, and when they exchanged greeting as they passed by.
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said that on the night of Danielles disappearance, "Brenda van Dam was at a local Poway bar where she was grinding away on the dance floor and possibly did a guy in the parking lot."
The bar has been identified in the press as "Dads Café and Steak House."
David Westerfield openly admitted that he was at the bar that night. He claims that he danced with Brenda van Dam. Brenda denies this.
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said, "Brenda left the bar with 2 girlfriends and 2 guys and went back to the van Dams house."
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said, "One timeline given in police records shows Brenda coming home from the bar to find the light [on the alarm] flashing and a door open. [She closed the door]."
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said that Brenda "gave one of the girlfriends to her husband Damon as a present, and made sure to shut the doors on all the bedrooms so the kids wouldnt be awakened by loud lovemaking. She did not look to see if the kids were in their rooms."
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said, "the adults locked themselves in the van Dams garage they have special inside locks so the kids cant come in and started smoking marijuana and fooling around. The adults in the garage were Brenda, Damon, 2 girlfriends, and 2 guys from the bar."
- Rick Roberts high-placed law enforcement official said, "after everyone had sex, Damon noticed the [alarm] light blinking and a door open. They were busy with their adult party, so they never checked on the kids."

Word is that the prime suspect is trying to do some "maybe, possibly, hypothetically" kinds of talk with the cops through his lawyer.

I'd have to say that guy is a prime suspect. But does it fit the profile for this guy to be a homeowner with a motor home? Seems he's a little too successful to risk it all for something like this. Or do you think I'm wrong?
To: Poohbah
Doubtful but possible, but is Westerfield even the same as the "prime suspect"?
I know of no reason why he is much of a suspect, no previous history, responsible job, upper middle class, father of grown children, etc.

Doughty,
I read your comment and what came to mind was how much OJ had to lose.
To: crystalk
Well, gee, how about the kiddie porn they found in his house?

They know this neighbor - and he danced with the mom that night at thebar. My guess is he again asked to party with them, and was turned down, again. He knew that the couple would be busy that night, so he grabbed the little girl. Some "men" become enraged when turned down by a slut.

Of course swingers don't do any of that bad stuff. We all learned on other threads that swingers are responsible and loving parents who are some of the most financially successful and conservative people you would ever want to know. Who are we to condem married couples who like to have sex with strangers while their spouses watch?
To: crystalk
I also think that Mrs V D knows who has the child, and may even know where the child is. Maybe they sold her or loaned her to "a friend." Maybe the price was right.

Who or what is Rick Roberts? Rick Roberts is somebody who knows a highly placed police source who can be counted on to say exactly the things that make FR's career scolds tisk! themselves into a tizzy.

I see the OJ situation and this situation as having somewhat different dynamics. But that is food for thought. Thanks.

Let me just say..that I said this from the very start when I saw these people on television. Their story is fishy..their behavior on television led me to believe they were lying. After watching them on television yesterday...I believe even more that they are lying. I would put my money on them being involved in this whole mess....

So what is the new breaking news?

Yeah, what was I thinking. No wonder I was single for so long. I was looking in all the wrong places. :) Swinger are the salt of the earth. Oh Yeah.

Thanks for posting this as a stand-alone article. It's appeared among the comments on several threads, but it deserves its own thread. However, stand by for heavy artillary from the "if it feels good, do it" and "someone's private sex life is no one's business" crowd.
To: Poohbah
Well, I'll have to admit I don't fully understand several dynamics with regard to this case. The group thing has never appealed to me, well at least since I was fifteen or sixteen year old day dreamer. And the idea of kidnapping some small child for my pleasure is just unimaginable.

"Mrs. VD"? Quite probably.
To: concerned about politics
I'm with you. I think this stinks to high heaven of a kiddie-porno-sex-swap ring. The cops are probably sweating Westerfield to find out who else belongs. Computers were taken from both homes. California has always been the US center for kiddie porn.
Burn all the rotten bastards!
