Don't think so. If I recall correctly, it was just a gentlemen's agreement among the networks and the parties after 1980 when Carter conceeded the race before west coast polls closed.

They can't report hard numbers til AFTER the polls are closed. But the campaigns can leak exit poll projections before the polls close and these are usually pretty much on target. Its the latter codebreaker's been posting up til now.
