Depth of analysis is not of a very high standard among supporters of the CSA.

However, the repeating of half truths, outright lies, and cherry picked quotes are considered sop for it's detractors.

Excuse me! As much as I may disagree with WP, I will tell you that remark is way the f@#k out of line! You help no one when your debating skills become so limited.

"How about we proclaim a Constitution and Declaration Day, "

By the 1830s both North and South realized the principles of the "Constitution and Declaration" were being seriously challanged by the Imperial attitude of the New Kingdom in the north. The seccession clause (originally included to get the Northern states to ratify) seemed to be the only way to maintain the original Virginia authored values.

It didn't work!

Keep in mind when dealing with WP that you're dealing with a man who favors the government's rights/authority over those of the people. He voted for Clinton twice. 'Nuff said!

Well, I've never said I voted for Clinton twice, so I am glad you will be glad to post a retraction. What I said was that I had never voted for a Republican presidential candidate. I voted for John Anderson in 1980. In '84 I voted Democratic. Same in '88. In '92 I DID vote for Clinton, although I was for Perot until he went batty. In'96 I didn't vote. In '00, I did vote for Al Gore. --Walt

If so, how is it that US Grant had slaves and didn't free them until 9+ months after the end of the war?

Neither Grant or his wife owned any slaves during the war. The slaves owned by Mrs. Grant's father, and which she had the use of, were freed early in 1863. Your statement is false.

If they fought so well, then why did they lose the war? Oh, yeah, I forgot. The neo-Confederate nutcases choose to believe they won.

It's too bad the people who don't post that much (commonly called lurkers)don't feel the need to call these pseudo-confeds on their nonsense more often.

Yes, it is and I'd vote for him again, if Bush Jr. is the opposition.

Not because I think Gore is any great shakes, but because I know George Jr. is nothing but a talking head. I figure Cheney is the real power. I didn't vote for him, nor George Sr., who also -probably- is having a big say in what is decided in this country.

'In the first place, note the title of the first conflict, Revolutionary War. Not 'Secessionary War' but a war of rebellion. Our founding fathers knew that their actions were not permitted by English law and they knew that they would have to fight to get their freedom.'

Wrong answer Chuck! In the English eyes it would've been Rebellion, in the Colonists eyes they waged a Secessionary war of Independence. Your semantics won't get you any votes. More of the Yankee myth of the "baaaaaaaaaaaaaad Southerners".

In other words ...

B.S.

Well, then define 'secession'. Are there legal secessions? AND Illegal secessions?

This is not a trick question. If secession can be both legal and illegal, then the word is not very useful as a discriptor.

Yes, the site seems to be full of B.S. today, but I digress. So how about an example of where any of the founding fathers used the word 'secession' to describe their actions? Any point where they expressed surprise that the British used force to try and stop their rebellion? Anything along those lines?
