Turns out you were right about the crime. Hope we find out soon whether this was a terror attack or something else! I give it a 70% chance that this is an Islamic Jihad killing due to the use of a knife and that the man was new in town. We shall see.

Here is the story from New York One News:

Police are searching for a suspect and a motive in the stabbing death of a 26-year-old Brooklyn man Monday.

Investigators say Auner Abensour was attacked around 8:30 p.m. on Coney Island Avenue in the Midwood section. Two local politicians who arrived at the murder scene said the victim, a Hasidic Jew, was out shopping for Passover in a populated area where stores are open late.

“He was moaning from what I understand,” said Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind. “People thought that he was sick, that he wasn't feeling well. But he had been stabbed in the back. He managed to get across the street, where he fell.”

Absenour later died at Maimonides Hospital.

“I think the community is in shock,” said local City Councilman Simcha Felder. “They're shopping for the holidays. This is as though something happened in broad daylight.”

Police have not released a motive for the stabbing, but investigators are not considering this a bias crime.
