Suspect Killed During Video Store Robbery Posted: 6:34 a.m. EST March 19, 2002
ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- A suspect in the robbery of a video store in Orange City was shot and killed Tuesday night.
It happened at the Blockbuster store along Enterprise Road just before midnight, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.
The father of one of the employees was inside the store at the time and pulled his weapon during the robbery attempt, officials said.
Police said the father opened fire, killing a 19-year-old suspect. A second suspect was injured in the gunfire.
The dead suspect was also an employee at the store, and the store was robbed about 30 days ago, officials said.
Police reported they believe the shooting was justified.
Darwin candidate?
SHOULD not be charged?
If some local DA thinks he should, and does, Dad will own a small piece of FL.
One question, however.
Was it Blockbuster video that banned guns from their stores sometime back?
Yeah, it stated that in the article (by not stating that in the article).
When do you think that what we are constantly reminded is "the majority of blacks" is going to stand up and denounce their own little, tiny minority of miscreants? Or, do the "majority of blacks" know something the mainstream media is fighting like heck to keep from the majority of the rest of us? Like, maybe, America's black community has largely become a veritable cesspool of violently destructive (and costly -- to white taxpayers, that is)behavior?
Nah, I guess I'm wrong -- no matter what the crime, illegitimacy, and welfare figures say.
YEE --- HAAAA. ANOTHER PREDATOR BITES THE DUST!
This one happened in the Orlando area just before midnight last night. Two predators armed predators thought it would be a good idea to rob a Blockbuster Video in Orange City. They arrived at the Blockbuster at about the same time as the father of one of the clerks working in the store. The father thought that something might not be quite right when he saw one of the predators walking into the store with a rifle.
So --- heres your situation. Father arrives at Blockbuster to pick up his son at when the store closes. Father sees predators with guns entering store. Father realizes his son is inside that store. Father has a gun. Father also has a concealed weapons permit. Father follows predators into the store. End result? One dead predator and another with a gaping, sucking chest wound. Father is safe, as is son.
A civilian with a concealed weapons permit very likely saves his own sons life. Gotta tell you
I just LOVE it when the day starts with a story like this.
Nah, I guess I'm wrong -- no matter what the crime, illegitimacy, and welfare figures say.
Although I hate so say it, but nah, you are not wrong.
Reminds me of airport security - the feds will do nothing but jeopardize the country's safety, while the private citizen really handles the situations that get real results.
Don't get me wrong, we need an F.B.I. and strong law at times, but we don't need a bunch of dupes in charge. Wish "W" had a meter to detect all the clinton cronies so he could fire them all at once.
Yes, and it was straight out of a bad western. My local Blockbuster store had a sign on the door that no one carrying a gun will be allowed it the store.
Nobody has robbed the store so I guess the sign worked.:-)
Sign is now gone.
I agree, some sort of Public Sevice Beyond the Call of Duty award
If this is true then Blockbuster should be sued as well!
ORANGE CITY -- A robbery suspect was shot and killed inside the Blockbuster Video Store here late Monday while a second suspect is hospitalized with a gunshot wound in the chest, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The attempted robbery occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Monday evening at the Blockbuster on Enterprise Road.
The robbery suspect who died is identified as 19-year-old James Wince of Deltona. Wince was armed with a rifle during the attempted robbery and was an employee at the Blockbuster store, Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. The wounded suspect is identified as 18-year-old Darius Bennett, also of Deltona.
Investigators are preparing a murder charge against Bennett because his involvement in the robbery led to Wince's death.
Bennett is listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
The employee's father, 50-year-old Robert Shockey, was armed with a .45-caliber handgun. He witnessed the robbery attempt and fired three shots at the suspects. Two bullets struck Wince and one hit Bennett, Davidson said.
The same Blockbuster store was robbed Jan. 24 while Wince was working at the time.
.45 to the rescue bump.
