LOS ANGELES -- Federal authorities said Wednesday they arrested 146 illegal immigrants at Los Angeles International Airport during a two-day crackdown on human smuggling.
Francisco Arcaute, a spokesman for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, said all but one person arrested Monday and Tuesday were Mexican citizens. The other immigrant was from Guatemala.
Arcaute said 65 Mexican citizens crossed the border into Arizona and were apparently planning to board flights for other parts of the country. Immigrants told investigators they paid up to $2,000 each to be smuggled into the United States, authorities said.
Leaders of the smuggling ring remained at large.
The immigrants will be returned to their countries. A few may remain to serve as witnesses in the smuggling case, Arcaute said.

These illegals are living a carefree life with not a care in the world. They fly all over the nation, then stop in some area to work for about a year and get paid under the table, share a two bedroom apartment with about ten-twenty other illegals. Ten of them will pool their untaxed earnings and buy a car at an auction with cash so there is little paperwork. They will then maybe get car insurance for a month then cancel it. I know of one that has a wife in Mexico, but is shacked up with an American girl. He tricked her when courting her by showing big wads of cash and saying he owned a drywall company. he he he, seems that the truth was he's just a laborer working at different job sites, and the money wad was a combination of three or four other Mexican illegals who was living with him and co-owners of his (their) car!!Well, no law against gilding the lilly, or co-owning a car, but there is a law against avoiding paying Federal and State and local income taxes!!All the money this dude saved from paying taxes allowed him to send mucho dollors$$ back to ole Mexico!!

MORE AMNESTY--NOW!!With this development it's obvious we need more amnesty, and right now!
As it stands, our amnesty program will not be able to keep up with the pace of wetbacks.

A lot of money! For Mexico, yes it is. And compare spending $8,000/yr to send your son or daughter to college.
These folks are paying 2K to earn maybe 12K.
I'm not defending illegal immigrants ( "it's against the law @sshole" ), but I understand why they do it.
