I’m a Norwegian with a keen interest in American politics and with a special love for your 40 th president – Ronald W. Reagan. I have been following the Gipper since 1980 – I was then 13 years old….!

Since then I have been a huge collectior of every thing that can give me more information and knowledge about this great man. To Christmas I got Peggy Noonans last book: “When character was king” a lovely book that nearly brought me to tears.

One of my favourites to collect is videos about president Reagan. I have bought many videos through Amazon during the last few years – videos that gives me an opportunity to travel back in times and relive his great life! And now I’m to the core of the reason why I’m posting this on Free Rebublic.

I would love to have in my collection some videos from the republican convention in 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 – videos that contains Mr.Reagans speeches at these Conventions.

Is there any fellow freepers out there that either have some of these tapes or know where I maybee can get these I would bee very happy to know!

I truly hope somebody can help me out there!!!

Suggest you start with the Ronald Reagan Foundation.

Where I come from originally (North Dakota), it is popular to tell Norwegian jokes, Ole and Lena jokes and Sven and Ole jokes. But if you are as big a fan of Ronald Reagan as I am, they sure won't apply to you.

If you haven't gotten it, get the book Ronald Reagan: In His Own Hand. I get choked up every time I pick up the book just reading about his warnings on topics as diverse as Zimbabwe-Rhodesia which apply today. Then I think about all his years on the mashed potatoes and rubber chicken circuit keeping these issues before the public when most people who were as financially well-off as he was then would've said "to hell with it."

Finally, I recall my days (and first presidential election) as a young volunteer for Reagan in 1976-- and how he came to our little out-of-the-way state to compete for 18 delegates which, by choice of the rank and file should have all gone to him. But the party bosses told us to be happy and settle for 9 because the other 9 were going to the sitting president Gerald Ford. This action stopped the Reagan momentum and the nomination was eventually lost on the national convention floor thanks to party bosses who did the same thing in other states.

Here is the Number to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley California 805 522-8444 you will then press 8 for the book store. I spoke to Reagans Archivist and he said he can copy those speaches but it would cost $57.25 US you can contact him at steve.branch@nara.gov
