It always stuns me when a jerk like this comes down on cigaret smoking and completely ignores drugs in elementary schools. I will never forget meeting a friend one day whose ten-year old boy was with her. I can't remember why we started talking about drugs in schools, but I do remember asking her "Are there drugs in Billy's school?" She turned to Billy and asked him the question I asked her, and Billy replied "Sure, they're all over the place" and he said it in such a matter-of-fact voice like we were asking if there were teachers in his school. And we don't live in an inner city ghetto.
I also remember this same discussion with an elementary school principal who is a friend. I asked her why something drastic wasn't being done about drugs being sold in schools and she was honest in her reply. "We are afraid to take it on".
So many wussy people come out big and brave about a legal substance, but they never come out fighting about a really dangerous substance that can destroy the lives of children - leading them into lives of addiction and death.
