Thanks for the excellent post. John Adams has been my favorite Founding Father since a most wonderful college history professor taught a class about him in 1987. It's high time this great man had a monument dedicated to him. I too am going to contact my congressman.

I have David McCullough's book and am reading it now. So far, it's excellent!

I'm ashamed to say that before this book,I hardly remembered John Adams.I guess the reason,I took a chance and bought it was because I used to work with a lady who on her mother's side is a descendant of John Adams.When I first bought the book and looked at the cover,I couldn't get over the family resemblence to my co-worker! Same coloring,shape of the eye,the mouth.And this girl was SO SMART - the real tell-tale sign that she was,in fact,a descendant of John Adams!
