I take it that you two have been introduced, LOL! While this situation is far more deadly, you kind of remind me of us Tolkien fans in our 'Hobbit Hole' thread.

Probably SO! It is hard to get a degree any more without having to study under a bunch of savage / moozie professors.

I made a business trip to Izmir in 1992 for NATO. Next to visiting my ancestor's home in Wales, it was one of the most interesting trips I've ever taken. Great people. Great food. Significant historical sites to visit. I learned some basic Turkish before embarking on the trip. It took almost 5 minutes before I had to admit to the concierge that I was a rank beginner. Visiting the marketplace in town was a real education...and a great opportunity to shop for some neat items for friends and family. I'm still a bit unnerved by all the police carrying 9mm sub-machineguns on the streets. BTW, thanks for the posting.

No, it was the Ishmaelites I called frightening. Turks are not Ishmaelites. They do have souls to save, and all ought to become Christian, but in any event one would rather have them on one's side in a war, unlike Ishmael.

Not me, whatever education I got was long before we had any of them in the country, certainly not as professors.

Hate usually is a product of fear. That pretty much says it all. On the issue of you (your nation) being frightening, but in a good way. I prefer to look at it as you (your nation)has earned respect... more than created fright.
Utopia, "what is the difference"? The difference is that people see what they want to see. Some simply accept a concept and want to be proven right. They will never venture out to anything that may dispute that concept. Others, like on this thread, want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And are not afraid to evaluate all the facts.

They aren't just tolerant..they are MILITANTLY TOLERANT. As far as they are concerned, they worked hard for their place in the sun, and they won't have a bunch of screwy arab mullahs ruin it for them. Throw in the usual antipathy for Arabs and Turks, and stir nicely.
Guess this is payback time for Lawrence and Allenby.

Don't worry about their pieces. They're there to stop the terrorists, which have all but disappeared in Turkey.

I never hated Turks as people, but I have not met many, not having been to Turkey.
They could be the best people in the world, and I would still want them
OUT OF CYPRUS NOW
OUT OF HAGIA SOPHIA NOW
to PAY ARMENIAN GENOCIDE REPARATIONS NOW!

Hmmmm...A very convenient murder. There has been some resistance in Turkey to helping the USA and Israel. This goes a long way to silencing that.

If you're talking about my misuse of the word their instead of there
Huh? Not at all. I meant, our cops and soldiers carrying automatic weapons are there for yours and our protection :)

I suggest that you go there and then rethink your opinions on the issues you stated.

This is so typical of the Palestinian attitude. All the wailing and mourning when one of theirs dies, yet not so much as an apology when they murder anyone else in cold blood.
