If someone hated her enough to attack her with a knife the wounds would show the hatred. They would be deep, random gouges of open flesh. People acting on hatred don't go about it by gently knicking their victim repeatedly about the head and neck, then carefully writing a clever word or two into the skin.

Exactly. Genuine slasher attacks are vicious, enraged, and they cut to the bone.

She's a self cutter, dimes to donuts they will find old scars all over her.

That's exactly right, it wouldn't be like a cut on your face while shaving. It would be serious. This story doesn't pass muster at all.

I remember about twenty or so years ago a semi-famous fashion model was attacked in NYC by an obsessed stalker. This guy carved her face to shreds. She still occasionally appears on TV on shows about stalking and her face is still very disfigured 20 years later. That is what a hate-filled man with a knife does.
