We could
sub out all the landscaping and pickin' jobs!
Now if we're really gonna pick a state, we oughta pick the low-maintanance state of Rhode Island. One itty-bitty lawnmower and were done.

Texas is scheduled to be a non-white majority state by 2005. Better start your takeover soon...

If Mormons can move in mass to the state of Utah and subsequently control its government It wasn't a state when they moved there, it was basically wilderness, with Indians the only inhabitants. You saw some of the tribes during the olympic ceremonies.
The Mormons didn't get as much control as you might think, they had to give on several important points before they could be admitted. For example, polygamy. For another they were not allowed to have an official state religion, even though other states had such. Maybe not at that time, but when the Constitution was written they did, and the Constitution does not forbid it. (1st amendment only applies to Congress, not the states, it says so right there..Congress shall make no law..) These were conditions, unofficially laid down by Congress, to be met before Utah could be admitted to the Union as a state.

One of my favorite quotes from the Civil War:
America has no north, no south, no east, no west. The sun rises over the hills and sets over the mountains, the compass just points up and down, and we can laugh now at the absurd notion of there being a north and a south. We are one and undivided.

There are just too many folks in the blue zone for that. I say we go to TX - good resources, lots of land, and great weather. We need to take over the state and make it ours. Then we send a letter to the feds tellin' 'em we are becoming the nation of TX as of a date certain so they won't be getting our money and they might want to grant Puerto Rico statehood so the U.S. won't have to change the flag. Then we send a telegram to the U.N. that says "don't even bother to ask."

Yes, but the nation of TX will eliminate quite a number when we round up the illegals and send 'em home, establish a shoot on sight policy for our border patrol and require passports for all those who want to enter the nation. (I think if they are politicians from other states, we might want to require they have their shots too.)

R.I. is definitely not big enough for all us conservatives.

Actually, it's a crazy idea, but it would be interesting to try. If the libs thought they could take over the House, Senate and the White House if all conservatives moved to TX, they just might let us have our own state. Then their electoral races would come down to NY and CA - libs win and run the U.S., while we run the nation of TX under conservative principles.

Hi annie... good idea. Texas needs more citizens who can read the Constitution in English.
However, I don't quite agree with the premise of this article. Propaganda was a major factor in the War Between the States, and the propaganda inspired the people of the north to fight against slavery. Secession may be a right, but slavery is a wrong. God knows the right side won.

I gotta admire the way you're living up to your FReeper name here! *LOL*

Hey, the article content isn't worth much - but I consider the author who is a bit off most of the time.
That's why I changed the subject, Val! We're all moving to TX real soon. I'll need lessons on how to dress and do my 'haaya'.....

You two are welcome down here any time.

You said it sister! It should also be noted that Texas did not legally leave in 1860. A seccession convention was held, at which only those favoring seccession were allowed. Hardly a process that I would select as my model. The good news is the United States killed off most of the rebellious slave owners and their children, and bankrupted the rest. If only we didnt attract wackos like the guy who posted this, we could go to work rolling back the worst of the bad laws, and get some help from the mainstream.

Leaving Washington for Texas!!! Who would do that? Okay, I did it. *L* Where in Texas?
Bring your hiking boots - there are snakes here. I like to wear sandals in the cities, but outdoors off of the tile or pavement, you'll want something substantial on your feet.
