It would be a big surprise to me if these people ever told the truth. Is that a law of the Koran in that one should never tell the truth?
According to most Koranic interpretation lying is completely justified to protect a reputation or
in time of war.
Consequently, there is no religious restraint on lying in Islam. Almost every falsehood can be made to fit into these categories. Basically the only immoral lies are defamatory lies told by one Muslim about another Muslim.
