Teachers Want to Opt Out of Pro-Homosexual 'Diversity Training'

By Allie Martin April 4, 2002

(AgapePress) - Several teachers at one California high school may have to take legal action so they will not be forced to attend in-service staff development seminars focusing on homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth.

The teachers at the Hayward, California, high school say attending such a program would violate their religious convictions.

Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, says school officials resisted the teacher’s request to opt out of the seminar, citing requirements outlined in the contract between the school district and the teachers' union.

"It’s very important school districts learn that tolerance starts at home," he says. "That is, tolerance means they need to treat [with respect] their own employees and their own teachers ... who don’t sign off on this controversial social agenda that is so deeply in violation of the religious beliefs and convictions of almost the entire world."

Dacus says he has heard from many government employees in California who are being forced to attend similar mandatory "diversity training."

"The agenda that had been agreed to via the teacher’s union and the school district to require this presentation does not in any way trump the federal civil rights statutes which require that Christian religious teachers be respected and not be forced to have to placate to this, and much less promote it. That’s what the law is," he says.

Dacus says legal action is likely if the school does not back down from its policy.

The point is that teachers time is better well spent taking care of the core educational needs of their students as well as the needs of their own families. No doubt the school board will declare "Gay Awareness Day" as another student holiday so that social engineers can force teachers to sit through more stupid lectures.

I've found "homosexual diversity training" in public schools to be both outrageous and ludicrious, but I don't trust anything from Agape Press. I've seen them distort facts in the past.

I have been forced to attend Diversity Training. The outwardly racist approach of some of the "facilitators" is more laughable than anything. It is the sexual perverted who are the most dangerous.

Most (at least the sane ones) adults are able to see these people for who they are: sexually sick people who wish to co-opt the black's civil rights movement and apply it to homosexuality and pedophilia.

Already, pedophilia is the next "Civil Right."
