It looks like SB1171 sailed through the Family Services committee. Not a single person appeared in opposition to the bill (see the minutes. I'm not sure what happens in case of a tie, but there are 3 Democrats on the committee and they voted for it and the other 3 members of the committee are Republican. 2 of the Republicans voted against the bill, but the 3rd Republican cast no vote although she was present.

Now, we've got to hope that it doesn't make it out of the Rules committee. If there's any FReepers in the Phoenix area who would be willing to appear before the committee in opposition to the bill, I urge you to do so.

Are you a member of the Arizona FR Chapter? If so, could you post an Action Alert regarding this with the date?

I saw no interest from them when I posted background opposing the City SMART GROWTH/Prop. 100 Election. From what I've seen, Arizona Freepers like to rub elbows with their favorite candidates and name-drop. With this new format, it's "I saw Grant yesterday.." and "I talked to Matt and..." messages at the top of the LATEST POSTS page each day. I finally deleted all my posts there.

I would like to appear at the public hearing, although I don't know the procedure. Would I need to write a speech? lol, I'm Irish and can be very long winded, if need be!!!!
