JUAN MIGUEL GONZALEZ REQUESTED ASYLUM THREE TIMES AND WAS DENIED BY RENO!!!!
Local news | April 10, 2002 | Luis Gonzalez

Posted on 04/09/2002 9:20:18 PM PDT by Luis Gonzalez

Miami local news have been reporting on the case of INS whistleblower Rick Ramirez.

Mr. Ramirez had a hearing Tuesday. April 9, where he denounced the actions of the Miami INS office, who under direct orders from then INS Commisioner Doris Meissner, destroyed and/or deleted all documents pertaining to the Elian Gonzalez case from their computers.

In a bomb shell announcement, Mr. Ramirez and his attorneys (Judicial Watch) have announced that at a press conference to be held Wednesday, April 10th. at 8:00 AM, they will produce proof that Juan MIguel Gonzalez was fully aware of Elisabet's trip to the US, that Juan Miguel wanted to leave Cuba as well, that the US government was fully aware that Juan Miguel Gonzalez was co-erced by Cuban agents, THAT HE ASKED FOR ASYLUM AT LEAST THREE TIMES WHILE HE WAS HERE, AND THAT EACH REQUEST WAS DENIED BY EX-AG, JANET RENO.

I say his case was as strong as the other side's but that the national will was weak. The Judges respected the national will in such a close case.

I am not speaking about JW or anything related to Juan's asking for asylum. I have no knowledge of that except what I have read here today.

Have I personally seen the phone records of the Gonzalez family in Miami? No,but it was made public they had same. I had no reason to believe they lied about the calls from Juan. Nor do I have any reason to doubt Juan was concerned about Elizabet & Elian making a safe journey to the U.S shores.

Elian was rescued Nov. 25th. 1999. Early Dec. the INS reportely contacted Juan asking him if he wanted to come here to get Elian. Visa would be given him for that purpose. Juan refused their offer. Twice he refused the INS offer to come for Elian. That was before Castro changed Juan's mind. Did you ever once think that maybe Juan was thrilled Elian had escaped Castro and wanted Elian safe in America?

I happen to know that you really do, too. I hope Donato doesn't have to see this clymer over here calling him a "whore".

A rather wide variety of judges & jurisdictions were involved to have me believe that.

I did misspeak, however, about Lazaro's legal record - a family court judge (with rather curious ties to the Miami Gonzalez group) in FL ruled in his favor, but a district court overruled that rather quickly.

"Donato is a media whore."

"Morons like you can't argue points so you call names. You are a mental midget"

You're making this too easy.

JW should have waited until after Reno's primary victory.

Shall I add deceptive testimony and withholding of evidence -- that such might have gimped Lazio's due process. If not in some instances backroom sticks and carrots to the Judges themselves? You're dealing with criminals -- Reno et al -- and must follow the case in that light.

"No, the memo itself doesn't provide proof of anything asserted by JW."

That all depends. What I posted on this thread was being reported by local news last night, I said as much at the top.

JW's allegations are not posted anywhere on this thread (that I am aware of, I have yet to read every post), but from what I have read, JW alleges that documents were destroyed and e-mails erased as commanded by Doris Meissner's. That is true, and there is proof of it available.

Further, Rick Ramirez alleges that there was a great deal of anti-Cuban sentiment in the Miami INS offices...not difficult to believe.

There's not one ruling that was legally suspect, bvw, so I'd discount the backroom allegations.

I'd rather not have a precedent set where a 6 year-old child can request asylum against their parents'(s') apparent wishes, or that custody can be established by a family court not of the child's native country.

JMG had ample opportunity to request asylum in public - if he gave the lad up due to coercion, I hope he roasts in hell, but he had his chance. To those who would counter with'but, they had his relatives hostage back in Cuba!', I would respond, 'Bravo Sierra! Every Cuban who rafts to these shores has relatives back home."

Then you put his mother's dying and self-sacrificial wish to naught, yet honor a father's statements made under threat of harm and injury to himself and his other family.

Damn any courts that honor thugs that way. For any mobster need only become an extortionist and by your legal logic he would be in the clear.

Perhaps I should have said - anything assertted by JW in the creent press release", Luis.

You posted at the top of this thread:

.... In a bomb shell announcement, Mr. Ramirez and his attorneys (Judicial Watch) have announced that at a press conference to be held Wednesday, April 10th. at 8:00 AM, they will produce proof that Juan MIguel Gonzalez was fully aware of Elisabet's trip to the US, that Juan Miguel wanted to leave Cuba as well, that the US government was fully aware that Juan Miguel Gonzalez was co-erced by Cuban agents, [left out the histrionics :)]....

JW's press release said:

"The documents reveal that the U.S. government had information indicating that Juan Miguel Gonzalez (Elian’s father) had sought to leave Cuba for the United States. They also reveals the U.S. government was aware that Juan Miguel wanted Elian to stay in the U.S. and that the father was being coerced by the Castro regime.

Hmmm, so I stand corrected - it wasn't JW that said that their evidence would prove anything, it was your post after hearing it on the TV/radio that mentioned proof....

The memo does reveal what the press release said it did regarding JMG's possible visa lottery application, but doesn't support the other two JW assertions.

There is no doubt that he was coreced by Castro's thugs, but I would be very surprised if the Clintonistias left any documentation around to show that he was denied asylum.

The INS has written guidelines that in cases such as this, a State family court decides custody.

Their spokesman confirmed publically that Elian's custody would be decided by Florida Family Court.

After the Clintons got into the act, the INS then reversed their original decision and appointed Juan Miguel as his custodian and spokesman in the matter of asylum, contrary to their own regulations.

The point is that custody decisions are made for immigrant children in American courts, pending outcome of the asylum application.

And I believe those guidelines apply where there is no surviving parent, or where a choice has to be made between 2 or more sets of relatives in the US. It took a week or so to determine that one of Elian's parents was indeed still alive.

Once it becomes an asylum issue, as it did when Lazaro attempted to apply for asylum for Elian, it becomes Federal.

Yup, that's what a nation of laws is all about, dvw. The whole situation looked like [someone :)] was trying to tweak Castro's beak, to horrible results for many. That [someone :)] politicized it from the get-go, to everyone's misfortune.
