Homosexual ‘Day Of Silence’

Is Day Of Oppression For Critics Of Sodomy

Washington, DC – "Today’s homosexual sponsored ‘Day of Silence’ on high school campuses was in actuality a day of oppression for anyone who opposes the promotion of sodomy among our children," said Traditional Values Coalition Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. "The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) own organizing manual reveals its hidden agenda of targeting the critics of homosexuality on school campuses."

GLSEN claims to have held its "Day of Silence" on hundreds of campuses throughout the U.S. today. According to GLSEN, it is a day when homosexual students remain silent to dramatize the oppression they feel in school because of their sexual orientation.

"The GLSEN organizing manual reveals the real agenda of the ‘Day of Silence,’" said Lafferty. "The real goal is to target and silence any person who expresses opposition to homosexual behavior, cross-dressing, or bisexuality."

Lafferty notes that on Page 13 of the GLSEN manual, students are told: "…your group should brainstorm a list of all of the people who are likely to stand in your way. This should include teachers, counselors, and administrators who’ve denied you their support in the past, or who’ve expressed bias against LGBT people. It should include peers, relatives, school board members and people in the community who have shown intolerance of LGBT people or opposition to initiatives supporting LGBT students. The people who oppose your issue are known as, you guessed it, your opponents."

"What school officials and parents need to understand is that GLSEN is using sexually confused children to start a community-wide witchhunt against anyone who opposes sodomy," noted Lafferty. "This is a scam and nothing more than a recruitment program for the sexual exploitation of our youth."

Lafferty says there are valid reasons for opposing the spread of homosexual behavior among students. The average lifespan of a homosexual without AIDS is 50. With AIDS, it’s 39. Homosexuals are also at high risk for anal cancer and serious venereal diseases. Health officials are concerned about rising levels of syphilis and AIDS among homosexuals. "The AIDS epidemic is gaining strength in San Francisco because men are refusing to use condoms during anal sex," said Lafferty. "Is this what we want to teach our children? I think not."

Traditional Values Coalition is offering students an alternative to the GLSEN Day of Silence. It’s the "SPEAK UP For Traditional Values Day." Information on how to conduct a SPEAK UP Day is available on our web site.
