Not too many voices supporting Israel, but here is one. No moral equivalency here, just outright support on a moral, ethical and a sound strategic alliance. And a dig at Musharrafat!

They seemed to project a perverse argument that terrorists and suicide bombers have human rights while the innocent Israeli civilians targeted in super-markets and cafes, do not qualify for the same. Bingo! It would be nice to see Israel get support from a major country besides the USA.

Great first post!
"This argument is not sustainable as Palestine is accorded and enjoys all the political trappings of a state." With none of the responsibility.
To: swarthyguy
Great post. India will not come through though. They don't want to rock the boat with the muslims until the big bang comes.

It is quoted: "For example Yassir Arafat compared his position vis-a-vis Israel to that of Islamic conquerors who defeated both the Jews of Arabia and the Crusaders we respect agreements the way that the Prophet Muhammad and Salah-al-Din( Saladin) respected the agreements which they signed Arafat explained. The truce agreements were signed at the time of weakness and unilaterally violated by both leaders once circumstances were ripe for defeating the enemies. Arafat used these examples to justify a possible unilateral violation of his agreements with Israel, in order to revive the war against Israel whenever the Arabs were ready" (Bodansky 1999) It bears repeating.

Interesting. Hopefully this guy has the ear of the powers-that-be in India.

Well the article mentions POLITICAL support. Israel does not needs arms etc. from Inja. What it needs are it's friends standing behind it so it is not forced to check between exchanging blows whether its friends are still standing there.

The analysts on SAAG are ex-def ex-intel types... B.Raman who writes there regularly is an ex-RAW guy - probably well cooked now :))
To: swarthyguy
Maybe you will be right. The Indians were ready to go nuclear with the Paks after theIdian Parliment Massacre. There backing would certainly help.

IMHO, Inja was restrained by the US so as to not upset "moderate" muslim-arab coalition cart - though its seems llike the wheels are coming off -maybe my wishful thinking.
To: swarthyguy
I hope you are right. Israel is great in the battlefield, but poor in the PR arena.
