The news here reported a couple of weeks ago about 5000 soldiers returning on the USS Roosevelt! I agree with you.
A simple rule of thumb for recognizing the differences between the branches:
1. Marines carry brief cases.
2. Soldiers carry attaché cases.
3. The Navy carries the load.
