First "intelligent" thing Hastings has done while in Congress. Someone help me here ... wasn't Hastings the one who made the outrageous statement that there were still sharks following ships along the old slave trade routes?

I just googled my own query and came up with this:

"Major Owens (D) said on the floor of the house that over 500,000 blacks were thrown overboard the slave ships during the slave trade era. It was so much that the sharks still this day swim that same route looking for fresh meat. By the way Major is his name, not his rank."

I am mistaken - wrong nutcase.
