Great commentary. I see it comes from the same source as some extremely ANTI Israel commentaries.

I sometimes wonder if the editor of the LA Times has a split personality.

I wish that Mr. Halevi was more aware of just how much support there is here in America for Israel.

>"The last few weeks have produced two smoking guns directly linking Arafat to terrorism. Yet most of the media chose to bury those stories."

I think everyone here recognizes that the media is playing its own agenda regarding the Middle East. It is more obvious, even, then the media/Clinton agenda during the Clinton years. In another thread, I wrote:

I was thinking about this yesterday, and it occurred to me that there might be much more going on here than meets the eyes.

Decades ago, when the various Arab states nationalized the oil fields, that was presented as emergent Arab nationalism asserting itself...

But was it?

If the Arab state had never nationalized the oil fields, then all those uncounted billions of dollars in petro dollars wouldn't have gone to Arabs, but rather to British and US oil companies. And, out of those uncounted billions, the oil companies would have been compelled to pay TAXES to the US and British governments...

This leads a person to think that it wasn't, in fact, Arab states nationalizing oil fields. But rather the oil companies declaring their independence from the nation states around them...

And if the "Arab states" are really just facades for the globalist oil companies -- real transnationalists -- then the current WAR against the Jews in Israel isn't really at its foundation an Arab/Israeli conflict. Rather it is the globalist, transnational types empowered by two or more generations of uncountable petro-profits fulfilling the NAZI ideal of purifying the human race as a whole of the "Jewish contagion"...

If there's any truth to this take on the Middle East -- if the ethnic struggle is just manipulation by the transnational oil types -- then expecting any kind of peaceful solution is just a fantasy...

The media always protray NAZIS as skinheads and Jerry Springer guest types. But the reality is that the NAZIS hatred of the Jews was driven by would-be intellectuals -- academics, businessmen and would-be aristocrats. The same kind of people empowered by almost infinite petro-dollars given to OPEC... I'm afraid that that is what is really playing itself out in the Middle East. OPEC NAZI manipulation of existing ethnic strife between Arabs and Jews not just to fulfill some Arab dream, but to fulfill the over-arching NAZI dream...
