make a lot of judges wary of giving suspects the benefit of the doubt.Hi Swarthyguy, you and I would agree that what you said should be so... Unfortunately, it is not. I posted my reply because of several articles I have read in which the judge directly addressed the "bias" against the accused person because of his ethnicity (arab) and sets bail. I wish I could link them but didn't save them, sorry.
In most cases, I hope your view prevails - and probably does. But you know what liberals are, people walking around with a mental disorder. :)

What a crock! "Bias" is there for a reason, actually lots! I mean, what more will it take? the other foot? though i hope that gazillion prayers are offered in the mosques against another attack (not operations like that PA news release called the terror attacks in Israel) because as the old IBM manuals used to say: "Results could be unpredicatable".
Though your last statement brings to mind a doctor at a major hospital in Boston that defended(onTV) female genital mutilation as a cultural practice that however we might not understand, against our socio-cultural "biases" we should accept, however much it goes against all precept of civilised behavior.

As one webfooted Washingtonian to another, I admire your your insite. Obviously a postal employee would never be responsible for using the postal system for terrorist purposes. We all know that the FBI has its famous "profile" that describes the anthrax terrorist and that this true civil servant does not fit the profile, so must be innocent. (/sarcasm).
