[history]
NEW YORK (AP) -- A Staten Island postal worker was denied bail Friday after prosecutors promised a "mountain of proof" would show he assisted terrorists.
Ahmed Abdel Sattar, 41, was ordered held by U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl, who said no bail conditions could protect the community or guarantee he would not flee.

This is the first I ever heard of this guy. Mailman, New Jersey...hmmmmm...a connection to the anthrax packages, perhaps?

Good post. I'm glad there's a lot of evidence against the guy.

I'm glad they denied bail to him. It's too bad they didn't deny bail to that terrorist lawyer, but she's out.
When I read the complaint--and if the government can prove one-quarter of what's in it--it was chilling. It was even more chilling to find out that Sattar was a postal worker....

Come now! The anthrax attacks were the responsibility of homocidal American Christian conservatives. Everyone knows that!

Ahmed Abdel Sattar I'm surprised someone found the cajones to investigate this guy, let alone arrest him. Sounds clearly Arab to me. I smell a civil rights suit coming on for ethnic profiling.

Great catch! Thanks for the heads up!

New Jersey...hmmmmm...a connection to the anthrax packages, perhaps? My thoughts exactly. I can almost guarentee we will find the Anthrax mailer as a result of "chatting" with this guy.

It was reported a few days ago (the day of the indictment) that Sattar lives on Staten Island and is a letter-carrier for the post office. I still haven't seen it reported what post office he works at. His passing messages for Rahman makes it likely he works in NYC (I'm fairly sure Rahman is imprisoned in federal prison in NYC -- I know he was at the time of his trial.) But for some reason New Jersey Online is reporting this story.
Very interesting that a mere letter-carrier would be in contact with almost the whole leadership of Al Qaeda.
