Whoa, this one hurts to read!

Hurts because he makes good points.

On a b.s. scale, bombing an aspirin factory and doing Monica cost less and killed fewer than Bush The Younger using ten billion to not find Osama.

Any President that makes Clinton's crap seem less crappy than we thought before really twists the knickers.

Like father like son?

Which would suggest that the next President would be a Democrat?

YUCK!

>"The president’s policy does not comport with the valor and sacrifice of his troops"

That about says it, doesn't it?

We are called a "super power," but our politicians are forever deathly afraid of offending this or that third world rag-tag bunch of losers, so every official speech and every official action is watered-down by political correctness, diversity training and coalitionizing.

It seems to me that real super powers don't define themselves by fear. And -- even if they did -- it wouldn't be the fear of offending some bunch of foreign losers...

"But then in a month, and with fewer casualties than on a bad weekend in Houston, we subdued a country where the Soviets could make no headway in ten years, and quickly jumped to the conclusion that we now possess a revolutionary form of military power that we can direct wherever we please."

This is false, after installing a new pro-soviet puppet to replace the old pro-soviet, out of control, puppet Amin in staged coup (with about 5000 soviets 'advisors' dressed like afghans) The Soviets invaded with 40,000 men in a well planned lightning fast operation they occupied the urban areas of Afghanistan. Over the course of months and years they were unable to secure the surrounding rural areas. The soviets increased troops to 118,000.

It then took ten years of chipping away by the Afghans freedom fighters attacking them at every level until they left. But from this history we can see that we might be in for a longer haul. Afghanistan is an easy place to invade and take control, keeping it controlled is another matter all together.

But sadly the gist of the article seems accurate.

It's getting harder and harder to respect the strategery that GWB is pursuing.

A couple of items (yes, anecdotal, but life IS anecdotal) to illustrate the disconnect:

1. My wife watched from the route of the Boston marathon yesterday in a blue-collar/middle-class neighborhood that's reliably demoRat leaning. When the squad of Brit artillerymen jogged through, fatigues and all and carrying US and UK flags, apparently, the crowd "went wild" with their cheering. The crowd too was festooned with Red, White 'n' blue.

2. I read here yesterday of the increasing numbers of visitors to Ground Zero genuinely paying their respects.

3. GWB's approval numbers are still floating beyond the comprehension of the chattering classes.

The bottom line? IMHO the American People are anxious for GWB to commit fully to our jihad (apparently this is the literal translation of "struggle" - why not hijack their crummy language?). Our "surprising" support for our only true ally in the ME is another facet of this.

I think collectively, a lot of us understand that after 8 years of the Klintoon party some kind of hangover is approaching - not so much "Morning in America" as "the morning after..."

Therefore, what exactly do we need to do to get this message over to GWB? How much noise has to be made to get him to do what is necessary (as opposed to politically possible)?. As the author states, action should not wait for a much uglier wound to be inflicted on us at Baghdad/Tehran/OBL's timetable.

Deterred from close-quarter battle in Kosovo by a lesser air defense than what now protects Saudi Arabia, the United States flew 37,000 sorties over 78 days to destroy 13 tanks, which made up less than 2 percent of Serbia's inventory. To accomplish this, the Air Force endured what its chief of staff called a strain heavier than either that of the Gulf War or that of Vietnam. -why does the president's policy not comport with the valor and sacrifice of his troops, the political will of the people, and the inexhaustible strengths of this great nation?

Some of the answer to the why is here @ BIN LADEN GATE (Please take the time to read all the linked articles attached there-It's worth it).

Irrelevant babble. The next foe we meet will hit us with a handful of dust, tossed onto the subway tracks at Penn Station. Our foe's army will comprise a few men living politely in bedsits and residence hotels in cities dotted over America. Command-and-control will be done by e-mail. Such are the lessons of 9-11. Bush understands this. The boob who wrote this article hasn't a clue.

Why is it that the American armed forces, with 6,000 strike aircraft, are strained by 100 sorties per day. . .

Not enough pilots. Or spare parts.
