Same old tired story - "the church has lost its credibility" Isn't it amazing that the church has lost its credibility on this when most Americans have purposefully ignored its teachings and warnings for how many years?
Those selfishless clergy who have provided sanctuary and protection of the holy shrines for millions of pilgims can't do an awful lot with pistols stuck to their heads inside and outside the Church unless you want them to have them witness the murders of each innocent bystander first.
Martyrdom has never been a problem for Christians who trust God before men.
However, why are you and others raising the stakes on protecting this sacred place --This particular Church -- at Easter Time no less?

(As do the majority of Americans.) A baseless assertion. Many Americans are not aware that some Palestinians are still in the church or even that Palestinians went into the church. Most Americans are not aware that there is a Church of the Nativity. Many Americans do not know where Bethlehem is and are not able to point out Israel on a world map.

So what do you guys think the Israelis ought to be blasting through those loudspeakers? The soothing voice of Mary Hart which as you might recall drove some woman viewer bananas and resulted in a lawsuit? Pig squeals? The 1969 record by Jane Birkin 'Je t'aime... moi non plus', or the greatest hits album by that screechy soprano singer that the Quick-E-Mart franchises play to scare off teenagers? I hear that Willie Nelson's latest album is particularly grating on the ears. How about the recorded chats of a million of American cellular phone users?

I would suggest Megadeath 's "Countdown To Extinction".

By making impossible the conduct of worship inside the church the Israelis are accomplishing something not even attempted by the Palestinians, and are badly damaging their case to the world to be the most reliable guarantors of the Holy Places. The priest should leave and let the Israelis do what they have to.
By increasing tensions inside the church (which the Israelis are now invading in a psychological sense) this tactic heightens the danger of the clergy inside (consistent with earlier attempts to force them from the complex), and significantly heightens the risk of a violent breakout, giving the lie to the Israeli claim that they want to make peaceful arrests, and needlessly risking lives on all sides, as well as God's house.
See above as to the "danger of the clergy" They are either in there voluntary, in which case it is "You are either with us or..." you know the rest, or they are hostages to be rescued. Which is it?
As t the issue of that being "Gods House" I advise the reading of St. John 4:21-24. We do not even know for sure if this was where Jesus was born. Even if we did, So what? The idea of Holy Sites is not to be found in the New Testament.
I do not find that superstition is a good reason for attempting to protect murderers.

I regret to say that the murderers are on both sides. You seem to have been convinced that this is a good guys vs. bad guys problem. It isn't.
The clergy in the church have testified numerout times that they're not hostages, as have others on the outside. If such statements were being made only for public consumption, it wouldn't explain the vehemence from the Vatican and Rome that the Israelis need to back off.
You appear to have surrendered to the secularist notion that all right and all law come from men. You're wrong there too.
That wasn't much of a flaming, was it?

So what do you guys think the Israelis ought to be blasting through those loudspeakers? Soundtracks from "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Yentl".

I thought the Palestinian goal in life is martyrdom. Why don't they just run out of the church and get their martyr pins?
Oh, these guys must be leaders. Leaders don't do the martyr thing; they only talk about it, like Arafat.

"...clergy who have provided sanctuary and protection of the holy shrines for millions of pilgims..." Shrines which attract pilgims are money makers for the Church. To be the cleric in charge of such a shrine is a big deal among the clergy. So the Church and its clergy have a very large stake in preserving the physical site and its religous significance. This is THE problem with organized religion.

My idea of a secret weapon is to blast the collected songs of Vonda Shepard. :)

They did this with Noriega and at Waco.
It worked with Noriega. Weren't Noriega and the Davidians also hold up in churches ? Strange similarity...

That would be a "certain ultra LOW frequency", below 20 Hrz. It's the amplitude (volume), at a frequency below the threshold of hearing, that causes severe distress. How does that work ?
To: marshmallow
Probably sounds like Jericho right about now.
To: marshmallow
Here is a win-win situation for Israel. Announce that if the Church of the Nativity gets destroyed, The Dome of the Rock becomes the world's largest hibachi!
On my command, unleash Hell!
To: victim soul
One can predict the outcome quiet easily now. The noise will basically cause lack of sleep and they will eventually suffer a nervious breakdown...probably within 72 hours....at which time, they will likely rush out guns ablazing and be shot down with quick effect Israeli machine fire. The liberal press will attack this method but it will force a reaction within a reasonable amount of time.
To: marshmallow
some Slim Whitman music would clear out that place in no time ...
