I second that. The title of this thread is very misleading.

Thanks for only reporting part of the story. You do understand the definition of "BREAKING NEWS"?
. . . uh . . . "the rest of the story" WAS NOT AVAILABLE?
PS . . . condolences on your . . . uh . . . "condition".

I second that. The title of this thread is very misleading. FYI - the title of this thread is almost verbatum the CNN news flash. THERE WAS NO FURTHER CONTEXT!
"BREAKING NEWS" means EXACTLY that - breaking news. I thank those who have fleshed out the thread with further information.
wimpycat, perhaps you just do not like the essence of the news - further aid to the PLO? (national security is a consideration of the decision per Bush per CNN.)

This is a smart move on Bushs part.
The deal is : funding if they root out terrorism. They have 6 months. If the job isn't done, no funding AT ALL. It's a way out of continuing US aid altogether, but it will be Arafats fault, not Bushs.
This way he can say he was overly helpful, but they renigged on the deal, therefore will recieve no funding whatsoever. That's fair.
Bush is the good guy, and Arafat has to explain to his people why they're starving.
The whole world will see how America has bent over backwards for peace, but Arafat didn't want it.
To: concerned about politics
This is a smart move on Bush's part.It is also a signal to Powell that he is NOT being hung out to dry. It is a carrot to Arafat. It is part of the negotiation. Bush/Powell/Administration is light years ahead of the 90th percentile

And, CNN, the Communist propaganda News Network, spun this story into a very misleading headline. I hope FReepers are smart enough not to believe CNNs side of this. I mean...A-DUH!!

Thank you for fleshing out the BREAKING NEWS.

Sounds VERY deceptive...the story isn't at ALL what the headline says...please NUKE it! Perhaps we should get rid of the BREAKING NEWS sidebar and only deal with fully developed stories. But then, some fully developed stories will still be candidates for nuking - according to some.

The routine waiver of a 1987 anti-terrorism law essentially certifies that the PLO is not a terrorist organization. But this time, the document notifying Congress of the decision includes new language adding a factor to the president's ongoing determinations about relations with Palestinian authorities: compliance with Bush's April 4 demands for an immediate cease-fire, immediate resumption of security cooperation with Israel against terrorism and an immediate order to crack down on terrorist networks.
When I seconded the earlier assumption of another poster that the title of this thread is very misleading (and it is), I didn't see the part where he said you deliberately intended to mislead. I personally didn't mean to accuse you of making things up, but the title is still highly misleading.

title is still highly misleading. The title is essentially THE news flash from CNN. Agreed. Fragments of a story are indeed misleading. Perhaps we should consider getting rid of the BREAKING NEWS sidebar.

Baxter999:
Let me see if I got this right. By Bush's criteria, if the North Koreans nuke LA and SF (not a bad idea actually), but are still engaged in peace talks, then they are not terrorists. Wow! Bush is a genius! concearned about politics: This is a smart move on Bushs part. The deal is : funding if they root out terrorism. They have 6 months. If the job isn't done, no funding AT ALL. It's a way out of continuing US aid altogether, but it will be Arafats fault, not Bushs. Naaaaah, this sort of thing happens from time to time. That's no reason to get rid of "Breaking News".
BTW, if you weren't being sarcastic on your post#52, we're pretty much in agreement about this.

I think Baxter999 was responding to the CNN news.
Mine was a responce to the story by the Associated press.
CNN fibbed, "just a little."
That's why the title is refered to as misleading. CNN lies.
