Tom Clancy wrote a great commentary last year on this titled "First we gutted the CIA, then we blamed it" or something along those lines. If you want to blame the CIA you must blame the men like Frank Church and Robert Toricelli who helped destroy it.

(Unless the head of the CIA is lying to the Prez and Congress ) the problem is never the CIA, it is the administration in charge.

Actually, just blaming the Democrat party, its officeholders, and its voters, for everything bad that has happened to this country for the last 70 years works pretty well for me.

I've been reading the book, and it's great! Lots of insights, good writing...it's like sitting down with a friend who has some great war stories!
Get the book! You'll like it!

This book was excellant, but horribly frightening. You read this book and realize that in the 90's, we really had NO intelligence agency. After reading the book, I'm amazed how lucky we are that terrorist attacks aren't worse and almost constant. Interestingly enough, Baer speaks very highly of George Tenet. I hope he's right, because the Agency needs a total rehall.
