Annan urges States to ratify war crimes court's statute, as preparatory panel ends session

19 April- As the preparatory body laying the groundwork for the world's first permanent war crimes court wrapped up its latest session today, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan praised the speedy ratifications of the Rome Statute and expressed hope that the tribunal would be functioning by mid-2003.

"Now with the unusually rapid entry of the Statute into force, we are witnessing a great victory for justice, and for world order - a turn away from the rule of brute force, and towards the rule of law," the Secretary-General said in his statement to the ninth session of the Preparatory Commission for the International Criminal Court.

Last week, 10 countries deposited their instruments of ratification with the United Nations, bringing to 66 the total number of approvals, six more than is needed to bring the Rome Statute into force on 1 July.

In his remarks today, Mr. Annan urged the remaining 73 signatories to the Rome Statute to ratify the accord as soon as possible. "Indeed, ultimately all States should become parties to the Statute," he said. "As I said in Rome last week, the best defence against evil will be a Court in which every country plays its part."

Since the treaty was adopted in July 1998 in Rome, the Commission has had the task of negotiating the practical and technical arrangements necessary to allow the Court to function.

At this latest session at UN Headquarters in New York, the Commission was in the last stages of negotiations on the final remaining issues, including a first-year budget for the Court and administrative and financial matters connected to the initial meeting of the Assembly of States Parties, now expected to take place in September in The Hague.

The Commission also dealt with arrangements for the nomination and election procedure for judges, the prosecutor and the registrar, as well as their remuneration; and a trust fund for victims and witnesses. In addition, final details were being worked out concerning the principles that should govern the headquarters agreement with the Host Country of the Court, the Netherlands.

What makes me furious is this bunch of UN socialist are living in our country,a country they all hate and are protected by the very laws they are trying to undermine. We must get rid of the United Nations......NOW.
How can this be done?

It is sickening, isn't it.

From something posted this week, it seems that one group who has fought to get us out of the UN from day one, is the John Birch Society. I grew up being told they were all kooks, but who knows. They do have a lot of stuff on their website. I don't know what they do. I think the link was on another post,

getusout.org

I think that was it.

Yes I read that thread, I think Knighthawk posted the JBS link. I remember years ago I would see a sign along a highway saying,"Get us out of the UN." Didn't mean anything to me then. That was when I trusted the government to do the right thing.

Do you know if Maurice Strong is still an adviser to Anal,oops.......I mean Annan?

Yes.
Not that long ago. Cognitive Dissonance prevents us from believing anything that will disturb our belief system.
But those who keep looking for truth, eventually wake up to new realities, feeling very betrayed.

The New World Order has been "arriving" in an incremental fashion.
Inch by Inch.
State by State, specie by specie, school by school...

I found this on David Icke's site. Expect a tin-foil-alert, but I don't care.

http://www.projectfreedom.cng1.com/the_global_village.html

Ramphal is a long-time standard-bearer for world government. He has also served on other global commissions like the Brandt Commission and the Brundtland Commission on Environment and Development. It was members of these Global Elite-created commissions, and another led by the murdered Bilderberger, Olof Palme, who formed the Commission on Global Governance in 1992, chaired by Ramphal and the former prime minister of Sweden, Ingvar Carlsson. And who, pray, is this I see listed on the Commission on World Governance? Why it's……..Maurice Strong, the 'Green' oil millionaire, the Maurice Strong who fronted the 1992 Earth Summit in Brazil, and sits on the board of the Aspen Institute owned by elite Bilderberger, Robert O. Anderson of Atlantic Richfield Oil. Also listed is Jacques Delors, that arch centraliser and former head of the European Union. Commission on Global Governance = New World Order.

Another world government lobby event, the Global Forum on the First 'Global Civilisation", was arranged by the Gorbachev Foundation SEA, for the autumn of 1995. Gorbachev played his part magnificently in triggering the prearranged 'freedom' in the Soviet Union and its subordinate states to set the scene for the absorption of those countries into the European Union and the United States of the World. The 'Cold War' was also a case of thesis v antithesis = synthesis. The 'freeing' of the Soviet Union was planned, not spontaneous.

Among those invited to the event in San Francisco, the official birthplace of the UN, were George Shultz (TC, CFR, Bil, Kissinger Associates), George Bush (TC, CFR), Margaret Thatcher (Bil), Al Gore (CFR), Zbigniew Brzezinski (TC, CFR, Bil), Paul Volcker (TC,CFR, Bil), and Ted Turner, owner of the CNN global news channel. The pre-event literature published by the Gorbachev framework for stability and regulated human interactions (my emphasis).

Here's more from www.crossroads.to.

4. Behind UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan stands the powerful Canadian multi-billionaire Maurice Strong. The founder of both the World Economic Council and Planetary Citizens, he has served as director of the World Future Society, trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation and Aspen Institute, and a member of the Club of Rome. As head of the Earth Council, he began to prepare an Earth Charter—a global code of conduct based on global values and radical environmental guidelines.

Strong led the 1992 "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development). It produced the controversial Biodiversity Treaty and Agenda 21 — the monstrous plan for reorganizing the world along environmental guidelines. One of his offices is only two blocks away from the White House.

Officially, Strong was "hired" by Annan to "reform" the massive, inefficient, and corrupt UN bureaucracy so that the US Congress would pay its dues. But his leadership brings little comfort to those who remember Strong’s occult and environmental ties, globalist ambitions, and corrupt business practices.

His true plan for UN reform is documented in Our Global Neighborhood, the report of the UN Commission on Global Governance, which Strong helped write. Like Towards a Rapid Reaction Capability for the United Nations, this report calls for a volunteer UN army under UN command, with UN police stationed in every region of the world:

"In many of today’s crises, it is clear than an early intervention could have prevented later negative developments…. This underlines the need for a highly trained UN Volunteer Force that is willing, if necessary, to take combat risks….This would be particularly useful in low-level but dangerous conflicts.
Such an international Volunteer Force would be under the exclusive authority of the Security Council." 9

What if the U.S. Congress disagrees with UN decisions. Could it simply press for a U.S. veto on the Security Council? Not if Strong implements his vision of reform. The United States, which is billed 25% of the huge UN budget, would be dismissed from the Security Council:

"We recommend that a new class of ‘standing‘ members be established…. Of these new members, two should be drawn from industrial countries and three from among the larger developing countries. Of the two from industrial countries, presumably one will be from Asia and one from Europe. Of the three from developing countries, we would expect one each to be drawn from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. . . . The new standing members will not possess a veto, and we believe the aim should be for the power of the veto to be phased out. 10

#72......Thanks for that. I have a couple articles I printed out a few years ago concerning Chairman Mo aka Maurice Strong. I'll see if they are still available on web. Freeper Wallaby also posted article here about Strong.

We have a storm brewing here right now so I'll be back later.

WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS? THE ANTI-CHRIST?GOD? HITLER IN THE 21st Century?

Why wouldn't he think that? The largest country in the world made sure he was appointed and has continued to support him from day one. President Bush gave him $485 million tax dollars to further his success just about as soon as he got in the White House doors. Tell me why he would be entitled to some day be called KING OF THE WORLD?
