The Mustang that Steve McQueen personally drove through the streets of San Francisco at actual chase speeds in the movie Bullit.
Nothing more on your subject, but you did mention car chases and Mustangs.
Steve McQueen is probably the only movie star to have driven race cars with the big boys in some of the major race circuits. He still does reasonably well.

By the way, Paul Newman has successfully competed in car racing and is a co-owner of a CART racing team.

I thought Steve McQueen died some years ago.

McQueen's been dead for fifteen years, not still racing. Also, both Paul Newman and James Garner raced for years as pros in places like Monte Carlo.

Steve McQueen is probably the only movie star to have driven race cars with the big boys in some of the major race circuits Craig Nelson and Jason Priestly are pretty dedicated part time racers that fool around in some big sports car races.
Paul Newman though is the real deal, he's won several major sports car championships and can drive with anybody in the world.

Steve McQueen is probably the only movie star to have driven race cars with the big boys in some of the major race circuits. He still does reasonably well. Steve McQueen has not done "reasonably well" for about 15 years; seems he fought a losing battle with mesothelioma, a disease that the CDC had never previously documented in a non-asbestos worker related diagnosis; they offered, by way of apology a tentative link to the scuffed-off asbestos from brake linings due mostly to his penchant for off-road dirtbike racing and roughing and occasional forays into auto racing. Didn't stick then, doesn't now, but funding is always important at budget time.
By the way, the Mustang front suspension had to be rebuilt after every take, while the Dodge never even fatgued either torsion bar; McQueen was a superior driver and a dedicated daredevil, but in the end, the Devil got his due.

Paul Newman was a pretty good driver, and guess what?, unlike Steve McQueen, he is still alive.

Didn't Paul Newman race also?
