As a result, we lived next door to people who enjoyed their 16 Labrador Retrievers. And their delapidated boat, resting on cement blocks, that Mr. Next Door had planned to fix up and one day hope to enjoy. I never saw him begin this transformation, it was his pipe dream.

We were sick and tired of putting up with people who don't give a sh*t. So given a choice between nazi associations and as**ole neighbors, we decided that with the former, at least our resale value would rise over the years.

OMG-so....what color mail box,garbage can and lawn mower are you ALLOWED to have according to specs?

Buy a home in the country, if you want perfect non problematic neighbors. What you say you have a right to be rid of a$$hole neighbors....you sure do but at what expense? Please do tell the rules to your stepford neighborhood.Is their a limit on kids,dogs,cats?

No offense but being told when you can water and mow your lawn or if you can erect a huge flag is not any compromise from a$$hole neighbors IMO.

To each his own, but when they tell you how to and what toilet paper to wipe your butt with don't ask for any sympathy from anyone.

There's gotta be some give and take. You're right in that it sucks to live next to people who throw garbage on their front lawn, have dead cars in plain view, and wake you up at 6:00AM on a Saturday after you've worked a late night.

But on the other side of the coin, it's out of control when a guy faces jail time for flying the American flag on a flagpole in his own front yard, or because he wants to paint his house gray instead of the shade of brown that everybody else in the neighborhood has under the rules.

There needs to be a happy medium. Everybody has a story about the obnoxious busybody neighbor and the neighbor whose house and front yard look like the city dump.

Your problem could have been solved in other ways, if a home owner here completely neglect his property, you call City Hall, they will warn him a couple of times, then move in and clean up the mess, and give the home owner the bill, PROBLEM SOLVED, no association needed.

You have a very good point there! I have some pisser neighbors who park their cars and trucks on the FRONT lawn!!
