No, ethnic cleansing is not moral clarity, it's more of an evasion. It may be true that Israel, by nature defined in terms of its Jewish ethnicity, may need to resort to ethnic cleansing to prevent the conflicts inherent in maintaining a permanent ethnic underclass. But that does not make it moral. We certainly would not accept anything like that here in the US because our state is not defined by ethnicity, but by acceptance of the laws and Constitution. The best alternative for Israel is to simply expell people on the basis of whether they are engaged in the planning or execution of terrorist activities. This would solve the terrorist problem, and would probably be easier to carry out than attempting to forcibly relocate 3 million people. It would also remove the need to legally discriminate on the basis of ethnicity. In all likelyhood, for all the demonstrations we see on TV, if the Israelis removed all terrorist elements from its territories, there would still be million of Palestinians willing to work and live peacefully in Israel.

One cannot deport a suicide-bomber.
The problem is that the Pali society is sick.
It will take at least a full generation to "fix" it.
Israel and the Palis, each by their own admission,
would be better off without the other.
Since Israel can't go anywhere, and the Pali situation
was artificially created by their Arab "bretheren",
the humane move would be to put the Palis under Arab care.
