JERUSALEM –– A gunman opened fire in downtown Jerusalem before dawn Sunday, wounding a number of people, police said.

The attack took place near Bikur Holim Hospital, near the center of the city. Israel Army Radio said it was a gunfire attack by a Palestinian.

Police and rescue teams were heading to the scene, the radio station said.

An Israeli spokesman on Whorealdo said it was in the hospital. He had just gotten word of it while they were on the air, so we'll have to see which is correct.

If they did go into the hospital, all palis should be sent to the hospital in Ramallah and none accepted into Jewish hospitals. If they die, that's too bad...They can take control of their militants or suffer the consequences.

Police: Shooting Attack in Jerusalem Criminal, Not Terrorist in Nature

(IsraelNN.com) Police are now reporting that the shooting attack on HaNeve'im Street in downtown Jerusalem was criminal incident and not a terror attack as reported earlier.

While reports are conflicting, police are now reporting that an armed person attempted to enter the hospital and was prevented from doing so for reasons that are unknown at this time, prompting the male to open fire in all directions, wounding at least two. The suspect is now in custody. Additional confirmed details will be published as they become available.

6. Bush first called for an end to the incursions, which Sharon's government says are targeting suicide bombers, on April 4, but later said he was satisfied with Israel's limited withdrawal.
7. The White House said Friday that Crown Prince Abdullah had presented Bush with an eight point list of Middle East peace objectives.
