"No-brainer" responses are not often wise, for obvious reasons. Try thinking about this situation, instead of just reacting.

Where are the molestation scandals in churches that ordain openly gay priests? Where are the molestation scandals in other situations where openly gay men are placed in positions of responsibility for children -- i.e., public schools? Answer: There are no such scandals. Only in the Catholic church.

This scandal is about secrecy and arrogance: Making people feel guilty about, and asking them to sublimate, their sexuality; then placing those same repressed people in charge of children; then, when some of those repressed people commit the crime of molestation (probably because they think they can both have sex and force their victims to keep it a secret) actively covering up the molestation.

And finally, when the cover-up is exposed, avoiding reform of the whole lousy system by blaming the problem on a convenient target (e.g. "the homosexuals")

You ask: "Where are the molestation scandals in other situations where openly gay men are placed in positions of responsibility ... ? There are no such scandals. Only in the Catholic church." You suggest that the culture of cover up and repression in Catholicism has allowed these crimes to florish. But, in fact, there are numerous cases of this type of molestation in the elite Protestant public schools. My examples are from England and Australia, but I don't doubt that they are found in the USA as well. They rarely go to court because of the closed culture, and the fact that the victims are members of the ruling classes, and don't want to appear in the courts as witnesses. It is degrading. And in any case, up until recently, such behaviour was a sub-cultural norm, and accepted. Senior boys were involved as well, and would recruit younger ones for their select groups, often organised by a charismatic classics or music teacher. These teachers were bachelors, devoted to the institute, openly homosexual, and often very learned and cultured men. Some young members of these pederast groups have gone on to live heterosexual lives, but look back on it all with nostalgia, not anger. But in Sydney, Australia, police have begun to investigate complaints of offenses going back years, so not everyone is willing to overlook it.

Only in the Catholic church.

Here you either demonstrate ignorance or are lying outright. There is no greater proportion of the problem in ANY faith during these sick times. But the media frenzy is focused on the Catholic Church for some reason. Get your facts straight next time. (or don't lie... whichever the case may be.)
