Well, I have been concerned about the New Yawk accent fading. All of youse mey not no-tice it, but da Asians and Yuppie kids in NYC speak like dere frum Suthen California or sumtin'.

Hey, dawlin-- dontya worry'bout nuttin! Da "Noo Yawk" accent is alive and well in N'Awlins! We sound more like Brooklyn den the South. We call it 'Yatspeak'- as in ' where ya at?' Never have had anyone believe I'm from N.O and not N.Y.

I was in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn not too long ago, and I can tell you that the Brooklyn accent is still very much alive and thriving.

... albeit with a touch of Russian.

Bay Ridge won't lose the Brooklyn accent in 1000 years, no matter how many yuppies gentrify the place with converted warehouse lofts.
